It's rather astounding to know how many people seem to think the story of Tsalsi as told in the recent article in Colliers on the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was a bit of fiction. , I have had several local persons to ask me if I had ever heard the story before, . I think the confusion must be in the fact that locally we speak of this famous Cherokee as "Charlie." . Since the story in Colliers I am sure the gun with which ke was shot . . now in the possession of II, C. Wilburn, who is collecting material for the mu seum to be established on the North Carolina side, in the park . . will be of national interest . . Anna Catherine Coin . . writes her mother from Berea College . . that recently at a dinner given by the president of the college . . he hail asked her if the story was fiction or truth. . . It's funny sometimes . . and tragic others . . how our remarks come homo to roost . . sometimes we are not anxious to claim them as our own . . one of the good .sisters in attend ance at the morning service of a local hurch wrote a word to a good sister sitting next to her . . she wrote her message on the first thing that, her hands came to in her bag . . which was a blank chock ... they had a vis iting minister that day . . he had just prayed a very beautiful, but also a very long prayer . . after which the good sister wrote to her neighbor . . . "I wonder if he will preach as long as he prayed?" . . the next day the writer of the message bought a pair of shoes . . . from one of the stewards of the church son-in law of the neighbor .... did not notice that she used the same check . . which went to the bank . . passed through several hands . . get ting more than one smile . . as it wfi thought that the message referred to the regular minister . . which was just too bad for the gvod sister . . but the thing got completely unraveled without damage, . . .
