A second match was staged with two members from the five losing teams competing, and the winners were presented copies of Webster's dictionary. The Rev. U. W. Baucom gave out the words. Approximately sixty-five were present. DORCAS BELL LOVE CHAPTER HOLDS MARCH MEETING The March meeting of the Dorcas Bell Love Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was held on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Oliver H. Shelton and Mrs. Jere Davis as associate hostesses at the home of the former. Spring flowers were arranged throughout the house. Mrs. J. F. Abel, the regent, presided. During the business period several reports of interest were made. The treasurer stated that she had received 100 copies of the fla' code and good citienship manuels, which the regent plans to distribute among the CCC camps in this vicinity. Mrs. J. Harden Howell, chairman of patriotic education, gave the re port of the annual declamation con test, with David Stentz, winner of the medal and Gordon Hendrix sec ond. She also told of the luncheon tendered the contestants and others, following the contest by Mrs. Kellett and the members of her expression class. The colonial motif was used, and the girls wore colonial costumes, and attractive favors were presented the guests. M-m R. N. Barber announced the acceptance of the papers of Mis Louise Beville by the national society. Among the communications of in terest was an invitation from Dr. Sloop and Mrs. W. H. Belk to the ded icatory exercises at Crossnore, of the four new buildings, namely. The Weaving Room, The Reed Home for , Little Boys, The Minna Fleshnian Dormitory, and the Buliard-Sloan I building. Invitations were also read, j including the program of the state ! conference to be held in Charlotte ! the last of this month. PEEK TO TEACH CITIZENS SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS 4 F Peek, who is employed in the chemistry department of the Cham pion Fibre and Paper Company, of Canton, will talk to the members of Citizens Bible class, on Sunday morn ing, during their regular hour for Sunday school. J. R. Morgan is the teacher of the class that meets each Sunday morning in the city hall. TO HOLD EXAMINATIONS Competitive examinations will be held on Ao-ril 16 and 17 for positions in the North Carolina Employment Service.
