The divorce calendar is set for Sat. urday, May 8th. Mrs. Glenn Tweed, of West Ashe ville, was the guest during the week, of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Boyd, Jr. Mrs. Eunice Cleveland and Miss Jan Whitlock, of Atlanta, and Mr. Rex Benson, of Spartanburg, were the guests over the week-end in the home of Mrs. T. N. Massie. Mrs. Ot over Davis has as her guests this week her sister, Mrs. A. C. Bros ley and a cousin, Mrs. George Webb, both of Chicago. Last week she had Ed McElroy, 59, Buried Sunday Funeral services were held orf Sun day afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the home on Dellwood Road for Ed Mc Elroy, 59 who died on Thursday night, at 10:30 o'clock at his residence. The Rev. Kay Allen officiated. Burial was at the Shady Grove cemetery. Mr. McElroy had been ill (or sev eral months. At one time he was con nected with the Suncrest Lumber com pany. He was a Spanish War vet eran,' having served in the company from Haywood county. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lura Louise McElroy, one daughter, Miss Ella Mae McElroy, of Enka, and six sons, Joe, Lynton. Kance, Edward, James, Denton, and Montgomery. American Legion To Stage Mother's Day Program Tues. On Tuesday evening, May the 4th, the American Legion and Auxiliary will present a Mother's Day program at 8 o'clock in the assembly room of the American Legion home on Depot street. The public is cordially invit ed to attend. The program will be featured by a talk by a local physician, a local edu cator will discuss moral, mental and spiritual preparation for parenthood, and there will be several musical numbers.
