"Country Store" Museum Reputed Worth $75,000 On a second floor, over a country store, in McDowell county, is a"mu- seum" reputed to be worth $75,000. One of the finest of its kind in the United States, it is the property of E. F. Kirksey. He does not call it a "museum," but simply a "collection of Indian relics," which he has been accumulating for more that 40 years since he was a boy. The majority of the relics came from within a radius of 15 miles of Mr. Kirksey's home, the choicest of them uncovered by the Linville and Catawba rivers, during the 1916 flood. His most valuable article, Mr. Kirksey says, is a ruby spaer head, which he purchased from the Cher okee Indians. He believes it to be the largest ruby in the world. It meas ures 5'L- inches in length and 2'z inches wide. Another relic is a jew eled serpent-head ring. This is thought to be of Spanish origin. Congress Basing Farming Facts On Biblical Records "Perfect Co-Ed" The old adage that there is nothing new under the sun was once more proved during the last few weeks when members of the House Agri cultural committee listened to argu ments in favor of a scheme which Joseph in Biblical times suggested as a remedy for the recurring scarcity of food in the land of Egypt. The new farm control bill embodies in its essence the principle of making pro visions for the lean years during the fat ones. Seeking t0 carry out the President's often-expressed desire to protect producers and consumers from excessively low or high prices, and yet at the same time to insure an ample supply of crops at all times, the bill contains many provisions.
