furnished by the state. Heretofore the
teachers and the school officials have
felt that since the parents were buy
ing the text books, they would not
ask them to buy the supplementary
material. Now, however, with the
state furnishing the material, the
teachers feel that the parents should
be willing to purchase the required
standard instructional material, is
order that the teacher and the pupil
may do a better job, by the use of
ample material with which to work.
While it will not be compulsory,
Mr. Bowles says for parents to pay
this additional fee for instructional
material, only those children paying
the stated fee for such, will be furn
ished the full supply of material which
will give them an opportunity for su
perior work.
The class room and the subject
teachers have all been asked to ex
plain this matter to the pupils, so that
they in turn may explain the situation
