THE OLD HOMETOWN By STANLEY Mrs. Lloyd George Has Family Book Taken From Circulation, Too Personal Mrs. Lloyd George who as the wife of the Prime Minister, was made a Dame of the British Empire, and next to the Queen in social position, has for many years lived quietly in retirement, working on her memoirs, appearing seldom in public. Her name came up last week, however, when "Trivial Fond Records," a volume of Reminis cence by Sir Lawrence Guillemard, was withdrawn from publication at the request of David Lloyd George. Sir Lawrence, it seemed, had recalled that Mrs. Lloyd George once said that when she first met her husband he was in the hands of the police and "she sometimes wished she had left him there." The former Prime Minis ter objected to this anecdote. The Lloyd Georges were married in 188. p!T ANOTHER jl 1 PLATTER- 6 N HAM ANt I - -BILLS HERE, MbNGRX ( MAW, SNE KNOCKEP) . Umbrellas loomed big and black over some of the adult spectators, but not one did I see among the student body. It took more than rain to dampen their spirits or either of the two teams. I saw one little codger with a twin sweater suit, that has been worn (I know) to every football game for the last five years, but to me she looked much better than the people who wore the mixture of fall and summer clothes or the little date dresses, which are strickly for tea time and early evening. Some Waynesville students, led by Gordon Hendricks, furnished the stands with an exhibition of the big apple; during the half, they received a hilarious applause. Mis.
