75 Million Russians
To Cast Votes Soon
In the coming Russian election,
which probably will be held in the
middle of December, some seventy-livi
millions of electors will vote for up
ward ot two million Soviet Deputies,
from Supreme National -Council-corresponding
to the American Congress
down to village and factory Soviets.
For the first time in the history of
Russia there will be a vote by secret
ballot, which mums a terrific change
for Russia, which had no electoral
right to speak of twenty years ago.
It is said that the masses of the peas

NOTICE
DAIRY COWS ON ROUGHAGE
ALONE PRODUCE A PROFIT
Dairy cows in good condition may
produce profitably on roughage alone
when grains are scarce and expen
sive without ill effects upon the herd.
Sixteen registered Jerseys at Lewis
burgh, Tenn., were allowed only leg
ume hay and pasture, in a year pro
duced more than (0 per cent as much
milk and butterfat as when on rough
age .with a full-grain ration.
In similar tests over a larger period,
Holsteins also produced above i0 per
cent as much niilk and butterfat on
a roughage ration as when on a full
grain ration. Although averaging
from 200 to 300 pounds less in weight,
the Jerseys consumed an average of
12 pounds more roughage each month
for each 100 pounds of weight.
Both breeds received only best
quality hay. All cows were accustom
ed to a roughage-alone ration before
the feeding tests wore started.
