Noland, Waynesvillc, Cadger Bryson and Viige McClure, of Canton. The members of the coun ty board will elect their chairman. Mr. Gudger was named to fill the vacancy of Frank M. Byers. All county officers, including state senator, have until six o'clock Sat urday, April 23rd, to file with the county board of elections. It was stated last week in this column that candidates for state senator had to file with the state board of elections our source of information misun derstood the law. Sheriff Welch. 300 Attend District Meeting Of Young Democrats In Town The Young Democrats of the 11th Congressional district held a banquet nere at the Gordon Hotel, followed by a dance at the Masonic Temple, on flaturday night Every county of the district was represented with approximately three hundred persons present. Jerry Rogers, district chair man, presided. After the invocation by J. Paul Murray, David Cabe, made the ad dress of welcome, to which William D, Lonon, McDowell county solicitor, responded. The prinicpal address of the even ing was made by Thad Eure, secre te rv of state. Mr. Eure was intro duced by Roy W. Francis, assistant United States attorney, who was pre sented to the crowd by W. G. Byers. Mr. Eure gave a history of the Dem ocratic party and predicted future achievements. Marcus A. Erwin, of Asheville, United States attorney, addressed the group in a humorous vein, as did also Dillworth Cocke, district organizer for the Young Democrats. Surviving are his widow, the form er Thelma Tweed, of Marshall, one child, Joyce Gail Matthews, his motn er, Mrs. S. J. Matthews," of Louis burg, and two brothers, J. R. Mat- thews, of Asheville, ana w. i. mat thews, of Louisburg. The Wells Funeral Home, of Can ton, was in charge of the funeral arrangements. DAVE MORROW Funeral services will be held this morning at eleven o'clock at the Iron Duff Methodist church for Dave Mor row, who passed away Tuesday night at the Haywood County Hospital, fol lowing a long illness. Mr. Morrow was a native of Hay wood, and resided in the Cove Creek section until a few years ago when he and his family moved to Marion. He was 62 years old. A short time aeo he came back here to regain his health, and lived with his sister. He is survived bv his widow and eicht children. Horace. Ira, Molly, John Henry, Wayne, Alma Faye, and Ola, all of Marion. One brother. Llovd. of Besscrmer City, and six sisters: Mrs. Zenie Franklin, of Waynesville, route two, Mrs. HamD Hall. Marion: Mrs. Cur tis Swangcr, Mrs. Carroll Hall, and Misses Frankie and Mamie Morrow, all of Bessermcr City. Rev. Forrest Ferguson will conduct the funeral. AND MRS. NEW RETURNS TOMORROW The Rev. and Mrs. Albert New will return tomorrow from Clearwater, Fla., where they have spent the past two and a half months. Mr. New has been rector of the Church of Ascen sion during their stay in Florida. They will be accompanied home by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hill, with whom they have motored through the state. Mr. New will resume his work here and will deliver the sermon at the morning service at Grace Episcopal church on Sunday. Youth Council To Entertain.
