Mrs. L. M. Kill'ari had prepared the
paper, but as she was detained at home
by illness, Mrs. W. F. Swift read it.
The subject was on "Vickburg," and
in a very interesting manner Mrs.
Killian presented the dramatic story
of the fall of Vicksburg, and the part
it had in the history of the Confed
eracy. She also told of the present
day interest in the city, and the at
tractions it has to offer the visitor.
The greater part of the business
period was devoted to completion of
the plans for the Silver Anniversary
district meeting, which will be held
here in May.
The president appointed the follow
ing committee: Reception, Mrs. K. N.
Barber, Mrs. W. A. Hyatt, Mrs. J
Harden Howell, Mrs. L.M. Killian,
and Miss Robena Miller; registration.
Mrs. J. R. Boyd, Jr., Mrs. C. F. Kirk-
patrick, and Mrs. John M. Queen.
Program, Mrs. Frank Ferguson,
Miss Nancy Killian, and Mrs. R. H.
Blackwell; the committee on hospi
tality was divided into two groups,
the first, with Mrs. T. L. Bramlett,
Mrs. N. W. Garrett, Mrs. Sam Queen,
and Mrs. N. M. Medford, and the sec
ond, Mrs. O. R. Martin, Mrs. Thad

Handbags sem bigger and
simpler. Flat bags, square or
oblong, of good leathers seem to
be favorites.
Colored crocodile is popular for
bags. They come in strawberry
patch, corn flower blue, butter
scotch and other colors and can
be matched up with belts and
shoes of the same color and
materials.
But lack of trimming is very
noticeable. Gloves are smooth
and without stitching, while the
bags depend on material and line
for individuality.
A snappy glove is made of two
materials for instance, a suede
back may be combined with a
cape skin palm. Or two colors
maybe combined.
Some of the new hats resemble
a huge bouquet of flowers sitting
upon the head.
