She is a past vice president of the otate congress, having beerr fifth vice president at one time, which office tarried with it the chairmanship of the state welfare committee. As a member of the state executive board, she attended the national convention of the P. T. A. which was held in Richmond, Va., last spring. For several years sTie has attended the North Carolina Parent Teacher Institute held in Chapel Hill. She served on the state committee on re districting the state from five to ten districts. Mrs. Alley will go to Salt Lake City next month for the national con vention which will be held from May 15th to the 20th. Other officers who will serve the state Parent Teacher Congress with Mrs. Alley are: Mrs. N. L. Walker, of Raleigh, vice president; Mrs. J. W. Burke, of Gibsonville, as treasurer; Mrs. Fred Hampton, of Asheville, cor responding secretary, and C. W. Phil lips, of the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, record ing secretary.
