The bridal motif was used through

Following supper several spirited
progressions of contract were enjoyed,
after which Miss Stringlield was giveu
a surprise shower, of pyrex dishes.

GIVE TEA
Mrs. E. C. Wagenfeld, acting cap
tain and her daughter, Miss Corinne
Wagenfeld, her assistant; and the
girls of the Waynesville Troop 13,
of Girl Scouts, of the Asheville Coun
cil, entertained with a tea on Friday
afternoon honoring Miss Mary String
field, the troop's former captain, whose
marriage will take place on Saturday
evening at eight o'clock.
The tea was given at the home oi
.Mrs. Wagenfeld which was decorated
in quantities of yellow and white
flowers. The motif of yellow and
green, the scout colors, was carried
out in all the party accessories.
Guests of the afternoon included
the mothers of the scouts, and Mrs.
Tom Stringfield, mother of the honor
guest.
Receiving in the entrance hall were
Scouts Eugenia Martin, Betty Jane
Bradley, Rosemary Herman, and
Betsy Siler. In the living room, Mrs. !
F. E. Alley, Jr. and Mrs. L. M. Rich
eson, with the hostesses and the
honor guest received.
In the dining room Mrs. T. Lenoir
Gwyn poured tea at an attractively
arranged table, covered with a Vene
tian lace cloth, and centered with a
crystal bowl of yellow flowers and
greenery. Yellow tapers flanked the
four corners. Serving here were
Helen Nicholas, Catherine Davis, Ruby
Frances Brown, Anne Edmunds, Win
ifred Rogers, and Frances Ratcliff.
In biding their former leader good
bye, the scouts sang the scout hymn,
after which Patsy Gwyn, in behalf
of the troop presented Miss String
field with a gold scout pin. Mrs.
Wagenfeld and Miss Wagenfeld pre
sented her with a piece of silver in
her chosen pattern.

who left this week for their new home

Mrs. James W. Killian was hostess
on Wednesday afternoon with a con

autumnal shades adorned the living
rooms, while the Hallowe'en motif

ments. Several spirited progressions were
enjoyed at six tables. When the cards
were put away Mrs. George Kunze was
found to hold high and Miss Eva

The October meeting of the Maggie
home demonstration club was held
with Mrs. Herbert Plott, president,
presiding, at the home of Mrs. Dave

The program was featured by the

Mis. Herbert Tlott gave a reading
on "The Good Life for Farm Women,"

Mrs. Julius Cutshaw spoke on

of Looking Well."
Mrs. Jim Plott spoke on "Plan
Daily Work and Recreation," and the
president made a few remarks.

November meeting which will be held
