THE WAYNESVILLE MOUNTAIN EER THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13 Page 4 Girl Scout Troop At Court Of Honor Waynesville Scouts Lead In Num ber Of Awards At Court Of Honor Of Asheville Council The Waynesville troop of Girl Scouts, number 13, of the Asheville Council of Girl Scouts of American, attended the annual court of honor of the group which was held at the Bat tery Park Hotel, in Asheville on Fri day afternoon. Thirty-one of the thirty-five mem bers of the troop accompanied by the scout captain, Mrs. E. C. Wagenfeld, with a number of mothers were pres ent for the impressive program. Miss Corinne Wagenfeld is lieutenant of the troop and assistant leader. The Waynesville troop made a splendid record at the court, the troop members having won more merit badges than any other troop in the council. The following badges were award ed: Tenderfoot, Betsy Siler, Caro lyn Burgin, Ann Farmer, Betty Joe Noland, Bebe Medford, Marguerite Way, Lou Ella Hall, Mary Jo Green, Ellen Louise Martin; second class, Ann Edmunds and Winifred Rogers. The condition of Mrs. Raymond Brown, surgical case, is good. Carl Denfield, of Canton, operative case, is resting fairly well. Miss Mary Johnson, of Canton, surgical case, is some better. Mrs. Hoyt Robinson, of Candler, surgical case, is improving. Master Robert Duckett, of Canton, surgical case, is better. The condition of Miss Ruth Brown, of Canton, is good. The Allen's Creek home demonstra tion club held its annual all day meet ing on Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Henry Francis. The house was At tractively arranged in Christmas greens. A buffet luncheon was serv ed from the lace covered table in the dining room. A crystal bowl of holly flanked by lighted red tapers centered the table. During the business session over which the retiring president, Mrs. Henry Francis, presided, officers were elected to serve the club for the com ing year as follows: President, Mrs. Hiram McCracken, vice president, Mrs. Henry Francis, secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Julian Allen. The program included the follow ing numbers: Mrs. Grady Farmer, spoke on Christmas gifts, Miss Lucy Muse, on "Restyling with trifles," Miss Georgia Mull, and Mrs. Hiram Mc Cracken gave readings. During the contests held in the re creation period, Mrs. Grady Farmer won the prize by making the most points. Bethel Grange Install Their Ne Officers The new officers of the Pigeon Val ley Grange were installed Monday night at Bethel. Van Wells, a past master of the grange, was the install ing officer. The secretary announced that ten applications for new members had been received and that they will be initiated the second and fourth Mon day night in January. Hold Interesting Meeting The Fines Creek Parent-Teacher Association met in regular session last Thursday night, with the presi dent, Mr. Charles B. McCrary, pre siding. After the reports of ' the various committees a talk on "The Family's part in Community Recreation," was given by Mrs. Mark M. Ferguson. Then. Mr; Lovett gave an interesting talk on "The Church's part in Com munity Recreation." Quite few psychological points in regard to adolescents were; given in both.
