Swayngim, of Route 2, Waynesville, was accepted for service in the United States Ma rine Corps at the District Head quarters Recruiting station lo cated in the post office building at Raleigh. He was transferred to the marine barracks, Parris Is land, S. C for a brief period of training. Upon completion of his train ing at Parris Island, he will be assigned to some service school, ship, foreign station, or marine barracks, for duty. Entrance examinations for en listment in the Marine Corps are now beong held at the U. S. Ma rine Corps recruiting station, poM office building, Winston-Salem. Singing Groups To Meet On July 14th The newly formed Haywood County singing convention for choirs will meet Sunday, July 14, at the court house, from one to four o'clock, according to C. L. Allen, president of the group. . Choirs and classes will compose this singing group, he said, but should any quartetts come, thiit they would be welcomed and would be asked to join a choir or class for the afternoon of singing. Haywood 4-H Club Members Attend Swannanoa Camp Twenty-seven boys and girli from the 4-H clubs of Haywood County left Monday for Swanna noa, where they will uttend camp this week. The program will con sist of forestry studios, handi crafts, games, swimming, pictures, and trips to the Recreation Park and Biltmore dairies. July the fourth has been desig nated as visitors' day.
