Barber, Jr., was hostess on Friday of a luncheon as a courtesy to her juest, Mrs. Ernest Carlisle, of Griffin, Ga., The party was given at the Hotel Gordon. The guest were seated at one long table centered with an arrangement of garden flowers. Following luncheon several spir ited games of contract were en joyed. Noland, last night, it was learned that there was a big increase in the volume of business the bank was doing over the same period of last year, and that the total resources of the bank were the largest ever known at this season of the year, the in crease over last year amounting to $202,000. ! J. II. Way, Jr., cashier and vice president, stated that last year dur ing the same period there had been 1039 loans made and renewed in comparison to 2,500 of this year. The average loan of the bank amounts to $81.12. The First National Bank having a surplus equal to its capital is on the honor roll list which is publish ed by the comptroller of the cur rency in Washingtcm, Being a na tional bank it is obligatory that the institution be a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corpo ration which insures each deposit to a miximum of $5,000.
