Answer: Seed from the spring crop of such varieties as Cobblers, Early Rose, and Bliss 'Triumph may be planted for the late crop if the seed are sprouting, but a better plan is to secure seed pota toes from last year's crop which have been kept in storage. It sometimes takes three or four weeks before sprouting begins even if the seed are covered with hay or straw and kept moist until sprouting occurs. In any case, plant only those seed which have sprouted. Question : What is the best time to cut corn for silage? Answer: The proper time to cut corn for silage is when the grain is denting and the shuck slightly yellow. This stage of maturity is reached about a week to ten days before the corn is ready to cut and shock. If cut earlier the nutri tive value of the silage will be lowered and the acid content often increased to an objectionable level. If the harvesting is delayed beyond the proper stage of maturity the crop will not contain enough mois ture to pack and keep well in the silo. C Tempted to Doubt God's Goodness ILLUSTRATED SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON Br Alfred J. Boeder i i Scripture Job 1, 8. ' 1 Job was a perfect and upright man, who feawd God and eschewed evil; he had seven sons and three daughters and much riches In sheep, camels, oxen and she asses. Satan, however, suggested to the Lord that Job was only good because he was prosperous, so the Lord allowed Satan to take away all his riches, to tempt him to curse God. Even when his children were all killed by a great wind that blew the house down on them, Job "shaved his head and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped." Then Satan afflicted Job with bolls, but even in his misery he would not curse his creator to the friends who visited him in his affliction.
