Ehrnighaus Talked Of As Senatorial Candidate The name of former Governor J. C. B. Ehringhaus, now four years in private life, was easing back into the political talk in this section today as politicians began to size up tlie United States Sen atorial campaign spring after next. Two names were being discussed as possible opponents of Senator J. W. Bailey, Governor Ehringhaus and former Speaker Lib by Ward, of New Bern, The possibility of Governor Ehringhaus being a candidate was especially intriguing to those poli ticians who like their politics with a lot of complications. Strong Figure He, for instance, went in as governor as one of the choice mem bers of what had been called the Shelby group, if not dominant to the point of being dictatorial then at least powerful enough invaria bly to get elected. In that position, then he would seem to be assured of strong support. But, on the other hand, Senator Bailey and Shelby were as close as cigarettes in a pack last spring when their mutual friend, J. M. Broughton, ran far ahead of the crowd in the race for Governor. The nifty political outfit set up then, combining the Baptists, the Methodists, the women, the con servatives and the liberals, would be like a gift from Heaven for Bailey if he has hard opposition. The situation has its possibilities and politicians were watching it with deep interest.
