"Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiv-1 ing each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.") FORGIVENESS and gratitude they are two often neglected vir tues, but which our Lord Jesus thought important enough to make prominent in His teachings. The chapter commences by Jesus saying that "It is impossi ble, but that offences will come; but woe unto him through whom they come!". In other words, those who tempt others to do wrong, are worse than the wrongdoers. Woe to them! They will surely suffer for making others to stumble. We all know how hard it is to resist temptation when a dear friend asks us to do something we know is wrong. That is one lesson for us to learn, and learn well never tempt others to do what we know would be wrong for them to do. The lesson of forgiveness Jesus illustrates by saying that if a bro therby which he means anyone connected with us, relative, friend or acquaintance offends ' or tres passes against us, we may rebuke him, not because of our feelings, but because it is proper that he should be shown where is is in the wrong. If such a person should repent and say he is sorry, we should immediately say we forgive him; yea, even if he trangresses seven times, but each time be sorry, We should forgive that many times. And if we forgive, it should not be a lip forgiveness, while we cherish dislike and resentment. True for giveness means we will forget the incident as well as say we forgive. Increase Our Faith "Lord, increase our faith," the apostles asked their Master. Jesus asked them how they would act if a servant came from working in the fields. Would they tell him to go and eat, or would they not ra,ther tell him to serve them and, after they had eaten, the servant would have his meal? v The servant was paid to serve the master, and he should not, therefore, take any credit to him self for his service. Likewise, when the apostles did their duty to God, they should not take credit for that, but should think of them selves as only doing they- duty. "We are unprofitable servants: we have: done that which was our duty to do." Jesus was on His way to Jeru salem, and as he entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers. They cried to Him. 'Jesus, Master, have mercy upon us." "Go shew yourselves to the priests," Jesus answered, and as they obeyed Him, they were made clean. Did all thank Him and glorify God? No, only one of the ten. He came back to Jesus and with a loud voice, glorified God, falling on his face at His feet and he was a Samaritan. "Were there not ten cleansed?" asked Jesus'. "Where are the other nine?" And to the man He said, "Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole." . How many people have been hurt by those whom they have helped in time of need. Gratitude implies that we are under obligation to someone, of course, but surely, when we have had kindness shown to us, it is not only right, but a pri vilege, to keep it in mind and show that we are grateful. The Pharisees demanded to know when they might expect the king dom of God to come. They were not looking for a spiritual king dom, but one in which the Jews should be liberated from the yoke of the Romans and should set up their own kingdom with a Messiah as king. The kingdom of God, said Jesus, is not here nor there, for "behold, the kingdom of God is within you." Those Pharisees had the king dom of God right with them, if they had but known. But they were Minded bv the things of the earth, They could not see the truth and so they lost their opportunity. Turning to His disciples He told them that before the kingdom of World of Yesterday jjlplllliilllillli Illf I lil J lllEi Ilillllllllilli fx i jf Workmen with acetylene torches begin the task of cutting apart the metal skeletons of the try Ion and perisphere, erstwhile symbols of TIT 1 J - M m II i . , I ii nwio u luraurruw ai tne New xorK world's r'atr. Robert Mills to Minnie Gaddy Price, both of Waynesville. God could come. His Son must "suffer many things, and be reject ed of this generation." As it was in the days of Noah. People went about their business of living "they did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all." . It was the same in the days of Lot. When he Went out of Sodom, the city was destroyed. The things of the world absorbed them, and they could not see the spiritual truths that would have saved them. i "Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it ; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it." The Lord expects His followers to be "kind to one to another, ten- I derhearted, forgiving each other even as God also in Christ forgave you." Then indeed, the Kingdom of God will be within us, and we need "fear no evil." New Chick Disease Appears In State A new chick disease known as ' epidemic tremor because affected cniCKS snow a peculiar yiurawun of the head, the disease has been seen in a few sections for the past three years. However, a compara tively large number of outbreaks have been reported this year. , Research work shows the disease is caused by a virus, an agent smaller than an ordinary germ. The symptoms may consist of a fine or coarse head vibration or tremor I and a naralytic-like condition af fecting the legs, although the j former symptom may sometimes be absent. '. Epidemic tremor affects chicks ' in acute form up to the seventh week-. Although day-old chicks may show symptoms, it is during the second and third week after hatch that symptoms are generally ob served. Mortality may run as high as 50 per cent, but usually fho Insses are around 10 to 15 net cent. Apparently, the disease is j not very contagious. Poultrymen who encounter the disease should take the following steps: Carefully inspect the brood several times a day and remove, destroy or burn all affected chicks at once; carefully clean and disin fect the floor and side-walls every two to three days; clean and dis infect feed containers daily; give fresh water several times each day and disinfect the water containers prior to each filling with fresh water. .. - ADMINISTRATRIX NOTICE Having qualified as administra trix of the estate of G.
