food, poultry, gardens, Handicrafts
were discussed.
The club also donated two books
to the library.
Mrs. V. R. Davis was welcomed
as a new member.
Mrs. Roy B. Medford and Mrs.
John M. McClure tied as winners
in the game refugee snakes.
During the social hour, Mrs. Med
ford was assisted by Mrs. Roy B.
Medford.
The April meeing will be held
with Mrs. Etta Crawford.

The story was as follows: "I am
sixteen years old and have lived on
the farm all mv life. I like farm
life a great deal.
"My father owns 585 acres of
farm lnnrl. Whpn I him that
I was going to take agriculture as
one of my subjects in high school,
he told me that 1 could take any
project that I wanted to and our
agreement was that he would fur
nish the horses, land, and machin
ery and I would do the work and he
would get half of the yield.

one hog for meat, two acres oi sou
improvement crop, one-fourth acre
of tobacco, and one-eiehth of an

stands of bees.

Hazelwood School
Closing exercises of the Hazel
wood school will be held in the au
ditorium of the school on Friday
morning at 10 o'clock. At this
time approximately ninety sixth
grade students will be promoted
into junior high school, according
to Lawrence - Leather ood, prin
cipal of the schooL

class salutatorian and Jean Ann
Bradley, daughter of Mr. and Mr.

rian. There will be a short pro
gram by the class and the gift
club will sing.

Canton Scouts
To Plant Trees
Bov Scouts of Canton will do a
community "Good Turn" next Sat
urday in planting several hundred
white pines on the Beaverdam wa
tershed. A. J. Hutchins, superin
tendent of school, and E. C. Haff,
Of the Champion Paper and Fibre
Co.. will be in charge.
Scouts are being selected for
this work by the scoutmasters and
other troop officials of the five
Canton troops. They will meet at
eight-thirty next Saturday at the
Champion Y. M. C A. Each
Scout is asked to bring a lunch
ready to eat. Transportation is
being arranged by School Superin
tendent Hutchins.
The Champion Paper and Fibre
Company is furnishing several
hundred white pines for the Scouts
to set out. This work will improve
the water supply of Canton

Baptist church in Canton next Sun
day evening at eight o'clock.

Foreign Affairs

doing something. It is time for
Congress to give the right-of-way
to our army, navy and air corps
and let them go ahead and meet this
situation." Chris Rauschenberg,
world-wide traveler and lecturer
told 90 Rotarians at an inter-city
meeting here Friday night, at the
Hotel Gordon.
Mr. Rauschenberg told of per
sonal experiences in France, Ger
many and England, and made a
comparison of present times with
those a few years ago, dwelling on
"The Old Disorder of Germany."
Rotarians from Sylva, Asheville
and Waynesville were introduced
by the presidents of the respec
tive clubs.
