The company has been operating some weeks, but have waited un till now to make their formal an nouncement after all stocks had been received. The two floors of the building have been packed with merchandise. Yesterday the second floor had more than 100 tons on it, while the first floor was loaded in every nook and corner. Faed, fertilizers, plaster, and cement are unloaded directly from the cars to the second floor, via a specially built runway. Lumber, fencing and pipe are kept on the first floor. Special driveways have been built into the first floor to allow trucks to drive in and load and unload. Canton Troop 4 Awarded Ribbon For Advancement Canton Troop 4 was awarded the August Advancement ribbon at the Haywood District Court of Honor which was held at the Clyde Metho dist Church Tuesday evening. Dis trict Chairman William Medford installed the reorganised Clyde Troop 9, which is sponsored by the- Clyde Parent-Teacher Association. The District Chairman presented Tenderfoot certificates to John Rhay Hardin, Harold Hayes, Paul Leatherwood, Lewis Rogers, Edwin Russell and Harry Stamey, Jr., all of Clyde Troop 9, and to Charles Leo Smith of Canton Troop 6. Troop Seven Committee Chair man W. l Lawrence promoted William Shields of Waynesville Troop two to the Second Class rank and Bill Riclieson of Waynes ville Troop two whs awarded a First Class Scout certificate by District Vice Chairman J. R. Sechrest. The Haywood District Commis sioner presented Merit Madge cer tificates to the following scouts: Jimmy Dean, of Canton Troop 1, Fingerprinting and Metal Work; Ralph Childrers of Canton TrOop 4, Life Saving; Phillip Moore of Canton Troop 4, Life Saving; Noel Sharp of Canton Troop 4, Bee Keep ing and Farm Home and Its Plan- . ning; Ted Whitted, Jr., of Canton Troop 4, Safety, Pioneering and Fathfinding; Wallace Knight of Canton Troop 6, Bookbinding and Handicraft; Jack Beardsley of Can ton Troop 6, Public Health; and Donald Swayngim, of Lake Juna luska Home Patrol 8, Civics. Troop Six Committee Chairman J. E. Henderson promoted Bob Gib son of Waynesville Troop two to the Star Scout rank. In order to keep up with deliv eries and keep the supply of lum ber on hand, Mr. Underwood ope rates seven trucks. Mr. Underwood has named Dock Boyd, well known in the hardware, feed and fertilizer business in Haywood, as general manager of the firm. James Boyd is book keeper and Jack Leatherwood is in charge of lumber sales. In all, 17 men are employed by the company. In addition to the general busi ness, Mr. Underwood will continue his contract hauling as in the past. The choir will re ceive a set of song books and will make a trip to Swannanoa to com pete with other choirs and quartets. Mr. and Mrs. Ennis Chambers and children, of Kyle, visited Mrs. Chambers' parents' Mr. and Wil liam Jordan, over the week-end. Misses Jennette and Maye Bell Ammons spent Sunday with friends in Canton. Vrott Page, Claven H, Pease and M. A. Harte, of Florida, are at their home on the Lickstone Mountain,- Mr. and Mrs. Frank Estes, of High Point, who have been spend ing a few days with relatives at Bryson City, spent Sunday "with Mr. and Mrs. John Estes before returning home; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Snyder and children, of Lenoir, spent Sunday visiting relatives in this community. Ralph Moody, of Washington, who has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Moody, has returned to resume his position. Mrs. George Hendricks and child ren will join Mr. Hendricks in Newport News where he is em ployed.,' . Annual Baptizing and Grave Decoration Held At Buchanan Cemetery The baptizing ceremony and grave decoration was held on Sun day at the Buchanan cemetery in the Allen's Creek section of the county, with between 150 and 200 present for the service. On Friday and Saturday previous the annual'cleari up days were held by the people of community. The cemetery was donated to the peo ple by Merri.t Buchanan. .
