R. Morgan, city attorney, gave an interesting history of the munici pal improvements nd progress generally in the town of Waynes ville, at the January meeting of the Woman's Club which was held on Thursday afternoon in the lounge of the Hotel Gordon. Mrs. VVuham Hannah, president, pre sided.' Mr. Morgan stated that the town had carried a heavy bonded debt and paid out much interest during those years, but that progress and improvement in the value of its utilities and properties have in creased more than the debt. He pointed out that during the very recent years the bonded debt has been decreased, not with standing heavy expenditures for improvements, and conditions are such now that the prospect is fine for reducing the tax burden. He outlined the street improve ments beginning with the one-half mile of brick pavement on Main street to the present large mileage, reported to be unusual for a town the size of Waynesville. He also told of the water system and the present water supply which en gineers estimate would be sufficient for the population of 100,00 peo ple. Mr. Morgan also spoke of the contemplated improvements includ- the mg the erection of a city hall, which is being delayed on account Marriage Is Announced l. llll 11111111111, III mill .III III .1111111 1,11 I.
