Iolet Jenkins, charged with as sault with a deadly weapon, was ordered to pay the costs of the ac tion and $25 to the prosecuting witness, and he and his family to attend church and Sunday school regularly for a period of eight years, unless unavoidably detained at home. JOHN SUTTON Last rites were held on Wednes day morning at 11 o'clock at the home on Upper Cove Creek for Mrs. Matilda Sutton, 72, wife of John Sutton, who died at 8 o'clock P. M, Monday at the home of her son George Sutton on the Asheville Road. The Rev. Frank Leather wood officiated. Burial was in the Upper Cove Creek cemetery. Mrs. Sutton is survived by her husband, five sons, George Sutton, of Waynesvile; Pearson, Nealas, Harrison and Robert, all of Cove Creek; four daughters, Mrs. Zora Silvers, Mrs. Nancy Messer, Mrs. Mandy Franklin and Mrs. Frankie Franklin, all of Cove Creek; one sister, Mrs. Caroline Burgess, of Cove Creek; a large number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren. GERALD FRANKLIN funeral services were held Sun day afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Spring Hill Baptist Church near Canton for Gerald Franklin, five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Franklin, who reside near Beth el, the child having died at 9:30 Friday morning in the Haywood County Hospital. His death, fol lowed by a short illness, was due to pneumonia. Officiating were Rev. Thomas Erwin and the Rev. Bail Rogers. Burial was in the Long's Church cemetery in Henson Cove. Surviving are the parents; three brothers, Charles, Raymond, and Earl; three sisters, Wilms, Pear lene and Emily, and his maternal grandparents, Mr, and Mrs, Mark Shipman.
