Three Sections Of Parkway In This Area Closed To Motorists For The Duration "Closed for the duration." That sign will appear on the three completed section of the Blue Ridge Parkway in this im mediate area, and on all sections which do not afford through traf fic, it was learned yesterday from parkway officials. Lack of funds for maintenance is the cause. The officials do not feel they can afford to have mo torists travel the parkway unless crews can constantly keep the road in repair. ' The three closed sections in this area are at Wagon Road Gap, Beech Gap, and the Soco-Big Witch section, which will be completed by August, it was said. The three tunnels in the section from Soco to Big Witch Gap are now being completed. No new contracts will be let for the duration of the war. Several sections of the 105 miles from Asheville to the park will be ready for letting within a week after funds are available, it was said. "Right after the war, "the park way will be the lifeblood of this section. It will provide ingress for tourists, and construction of the new sections will provide hun dreds of jobs for men now in ser vice or on defense jobs, a spokes man of the service said. While the parkway is closed, and many of the scenic spots of the area will not be available to mo torists, the Park Service will per mit walking on the parkway.
