They are not there because they love war, but because they love peace. These protectors of our homes and loved ones must have food, and plenty of it. We as farmers and canners, have agreed to do our part. Our government has said that our part is to provide thousands of cases of canned , food. We'll do just that. The crops are fine, and when the harvest comes, those crops will roll into the cannery for processing and shipment to our armed forces. Haywood County Mutual Canning Ass'n. Plant At Hazelwood This typical, efficient American Soldier picked up his gun in answer to his country's call he'll do a good job he'll finish the fight but he must have food good, substantial and nourishing, energy-giving food and that is where the 152 farmers listed on this page, and this Association enter the fight for Victory. The 152 farmers listed here have contracted to grow 245 acres of beans and other cannery crops this year. From every pound brought to the can nery, the government has already requisitioned a major part for fighting American and allied men in service. This co-operative is working hand in hand with the War Production Board in seeing that food, properly canned, gets to our men. The farmers listed here have agreed to deliver their entire crop produced on the acreage contracted to the Haywood Mutual Cannery at Hazelwood. From each bushel contracted, the government has already specified how much MUST be set aside for our fighting men. There is a possibility that they will take the major part of the entire crop. It is with a feeling of patriotic pride, that these organizations and co operating members can do their part in this war effort.
