Page 6 THE WAWESVTLLE M9UMTAfiKR THURSDAY, July , Virginia Olive Matney Becomes Bride of Calvin Warren McDaniels Bride Of Last Week Mr. and Mrs. John Hitiiard Mat ney have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Virginia Olive Matney, to Calvin Warren McDaniel, of -Wilmington.". The ceremony took place at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at the First Methodist church with the pastor, the Rev. J. Clay Madison, pro nouncing the vows. The church was arranged in floor standards filled with white hy drangea and bowls of mixed sum mer flowers were placed on ped estals on either side of the altar. Mrs. W. I, Matnev firandmoth er of the bride, was organist and played prior to the ceremony, Schubert's "Serenade" and "Moon light and Hoses." She rendered the traditional marches from Wag, ner and Mendelssohn for the pro cessional and recessional. Mrs. Fred Martin and Mrs. Fred Cal houn, aunts of the bride, sang a duet, "The Sweetest Story Ever Told." The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a sky blue suit with white accessories. He small hat was fashioned of flowers and worn with a short veil. Her flowers were gardenias, white car nations, and gypsophielia. Miss Margaret McDaniels, of Ga.stonia, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a white sport dress and white ac cessories and her flowers were red roses. Miss Freida May Teague and ivu.ss Margaret Teague were brides maids. 1 hey wore white sport models with white accessories and their flowers were red roses. Mr. McDaniels had as his best ma,n, Ed McRorie. Servinc aa ushers were, Charles Teague and tester Kurgin, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. McDaniels reciv ed their education in the Waynea- vuie township high school. Mr. McDaniels hold a position with the North Carolina Shipbuilding Com pany of Wilmington. The young couple left immediate ly after the ceremony for Gastonia where they will visit the parents of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman McDaniels, after which they will go to Wilmington, where they will reside. Mrs. McDaniels was the honor guest of a number of parties since the announcement of her engage ment and approaching marriage. Wilma Ellen Finger Becomes Bride Of Ralph Wm. Sease Mr. and Mrs. John Finger, of Maggie, have announced the mar riage of their daughter, Miss Wil ma fc.llen r inger, of Waynesville, to Ralnh William Spiisp. whirh took place on Saturday afternoon at b o'clock at the First Baptist church. The Rev. H. G. Hammett, pastor of the church nronounced the vows, using the ring ceremony. Mrs. W. L. Matney, organist, rendered a program of music prior to the ceremony and also played the traditional ' bridal song" by Wagner, for the processional and Mendelssohn's wedding march for the recessional. The bride wore a navv and bW dress witn navy and white accessories. Both Mr. and Mrs. Spaas are graduates of the Waynesville town ship high school. Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Blalock as sisted their daughters in receiving the guests. A wedding contest was held during the afternoon with a prize given the winner. The bride was presented the gifts in a basket decorated in red, white and blue.
