Teams from all over the state are competing in the tournament, including Asheville, Charlotte and Greensboro. Among the softball circles here, hopes are high that they will have a record crowd and modern concrete tennis court will be the scene of much action for the next few days, see some real Softball. Dayton ed off by capturing two games, and the Tannery added two games to their won column, and also one to their lost column. Pet Dairy crep one game nearer third position, as High School dropped their only game of the week. The Boosters split even for the week, while Jonathan Creek added one and lost two. Erkraft dropped two games, and the Lions were idle. Last night the Lions were sated to go into action against the Tan nery in a rained out game. Dayton Rubber softball team was chosen by the league I o represent Waynesville in the,' 'tournament and according to R. L. Hendrick, many of the boys are going to give everything they've got. The Day ton team was chosen because they are leading the Waynesville league. Each team is allowed to select aside from their regular ros ter, two players from the other teams in their league, Dayton Rubber has chosen Roberson from Pet Dairy and Lane from the Tan nery team. Playing will start on Thursday afternoon at B p. m. with Canton's Champion 'Y' meeting Gastonia's "SemioU," then at 6 p. m. High Point will meet Concord's Cannon Softball Standings Mills and at 7 p. m. the Waynes ville Dayton team will meet Kan- napolis's Cannon No. 6. At 8 p. m. Gaston County will meet the winner of the- Canton-Gastonia match. At 9 p. m. Shelby Lily Mills will meet the winner of the High Point-Concord match. On Friday the tournament starts at 6 n, ni. with , Asheville playing Charlotte, then at 7 p. m, Greens boro will meet the winner of the Waynesville-Kannupolis tilt. At 8 p. m. the winner of the Ashe- ville-Charlotte tilt will meet the winners of the Gaston County tilt. Then at 9 p. m. the winners of the Greensboro tilt and the Shelby tilt will meet. On Saturday at 9 p. m. the two finalist will meet to decide the championship of Western North Carolina. According to officials the win ners of the Western North Caro lina Tournament will then have an opportunity to meet the East ern Champions In a two best out of three series for the state cham pionship. This tilt would mdre than likely be held in Raleigh. According to R. L. Hendrick, manager of the Dayton team, the boys are going to work awfuly hard to win and give everything they've got. But whether they come back winners or not, w know that the other teams will certainly be willing to admit that the Dayton team gave them their ''money's worth." ':.'
