In the morning serviice at 11 o'clock the members will place on the of fering plates, which will then be consecrated at the altar, their pledge for the coming year. No contributions are being solicited at this time, but the congregation will indicate their loyalty to their church by making a pledge. The pastor, Miles A. McLean, will preach on "Continuing the Work Begun by Christ," and his text will be "Of all that Jesus began both to do and teach," Act 1:1. Following the service there will be a dinner for the members of the board of stewards and their families in the church basement. After dinner the stewards will go out that same afternoon to com plete the every msmber canvass. Members of the finance commit tee, who are directing the can vass, are A. J. McCracken, chair man, Mrs. Jerry Liner, Mrs. Guy Fulbright, treasurer. New mem bers of the official board, who are going into office this year for the first time, are ChasG. Barber will have charge of the program at the No vember meeting of the Haywood Chapter which will be held with Mrs. Rufus H. Blackwell on Fri day afternoon. Mrs. Barber will give a full report of the annual convention of the State division of the UDC, which she recently attended in Greensboro. Mrs. Grover M. Davis, president, will preside. Mrs. Ada Galloway Announces Engagement Of Her Daughter Mrs. Ada Galloway has announc ed the engagement of her daughter Miss Bonnie Marie Galloway to Frank Clinton Brown, Jr., of Frank lin. ' The marriage is scheduled to take place the latter part of this month, the exact date to be announced later. .: The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Nelson Galloway. She is a graduate of the Waynesville district high schol, at at present holds a position with the Southern Bell Telephone Company in the local office. The bridegroom-elect attended the Franklin high school and has been employed for the past several months on defense work in Durham. '.'.' Fred , Howell, of Providence, R. I., has arrived for a brief visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Howell. ' Glee Club Organized In Hazelwood School Directed By Miss Clark The Hazelwood Glee Club, com posed of 50 members, has recently been organized in the Hazelwood school under the direction of Miss Marguerite Clark, second grade teacher. Miss Clark plans to organize a rhythm band for the primary grades in the near future. Miss Ethel Woody Is Bride Of Marvin Parton Miss Ethel Woody, of Canton, and Marvin Parton, of Hazelwood, were marriod in a quiet ceremony in Clayton, Ga., on Saturday, Oc tober 24. 7, -, Mrs. Parton is the daughter of Mr. ; and Mrs. Floyd Woody, of Canton. S. army on Monday, November 2. Margaret Katherine Reese Hostess Of Hallowe'en Party Friday Margaret Katherine Reese was hostess on Friday evening of a Hallowe'en party. The seasonal motif was used in the party ap pointments and games. Clyde Woman's Club Has Interesting Program The Clyde Woman's Club held their November meeting with Mrs. Grover C. Haynes and Mrs. T. H. Parris, at the home of the former recently. The program was on "Thanks giving'' and in charge of Mrs. Levi Morgan, with Rev. C. C. Worsham the principal speaker. After the program, the hostesses served delicious refreshments The December meeting will be held wth Mrs. E. M. Green and Mrs. Troy Stamey. Mrs. T. L. McDonald left Mon day for Washington, D. C, where she will visit friends for several weeks before returning home. Mrs. J. F. Hodges, of Lenoir City, and her young daughter, Jean, and son, John F., Jr., spent the week-end here with the for mer's mother, Mrs. James R. Thomas, and her sister, Mrs. Roy Campbell. .' ':.. Mrs. James Knight, of Morgan ton, was the week-end guest of relatives in Hazelwood. ' : Mrs. Harry Frhen has returned to her home in Bristol, Tenn., after spending the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus II. Blackwell. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Whitner had as their guests this week, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Dudley, of Indian Head, Md., and Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Eck, of Athens Alabama. Mrs. James Davis and four small children left last Friday for Den ton, Texas, where they will reside for an indefinite time with Captain Davis, who is stationed near there. She was accompanied there by her Aunt, Mrs. Theodore Grant Mr. and Mrs. Allison had as their guest oyer the week-end the latter's father, Ed Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martin spent Sunday in Brevard where they vis ited their daughter, Miss Eugenia Martin, who is a student at Bre vard College. ;-.
