DEATHS Red Cross Room Bethel Ladies Open A group of ladies of the Bethel community, under the supervision of Mrs. Harmon Moore and Mrs. Walker, of Canton, have opened a Red Cross work room in the study at the Bethel Methodist Church. Mrs. Guy Wells and Mrs. Tom Cathey are leaders of the group. The room is open Tuesday's and Friday's of each week from one until five o'clock. Within the next few weeks the supervisors plan to work at least three afternoons and nights each week. In the short time the room has been open the ladies have made about 4,000 bandages. Other supervisors are: Mrs. Jim Welch, Mrs. John Pleas, Mrs. Hor ace Peek, Mrs. Clifton W. P. Whitesides, Mrs. C. S. Terrell and Mrs. Henry Garner. All ladies in th.s community are urged to come to the church and make bandages. Heatherly, 42, farmer and stock raiser of the Cruso sec tion, who died at his home at 6 o'clock Saturday evening after a lonp illness. Officiating ministers were Rev. Bill Sorrells, pastor, the Rev. Jack Bryson, the Rev. Theodore Heath erly, and the Rev. Mr. Wheeler. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Tulin Massif Heatherly; three daughters, Hetty, Kdith and Ber dina; one son, Lester; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Heatherly; six sisters, Mrs. Hester Pless, Mrs. Violet Fanner, Mrs. I'eliah Revis, Mrs. Lizzie Croen, Mis. Dorothy Henson and Mrs. Kthel Trull; and j three brothers, John, Merritt and ! MOTES PRESSLEY Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon t 3 o'clock at the Arnon Plains Methodist church for Mrs. Motes Pressley, 49, wife of Harley L. Pressley, of near Can ton, who died at her home at 10:20 o'clock Friday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Frank Bonham, near Canton. The Rev. V. A. Morton, pastor, officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. W. H. Pless. Burial was in the chureh cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Joe Dobord, Neal Pressley, Gyle Scruggs. Soth Wood, Goble McCracken, and Roy Mann. Surviving are her husband; three sons, Paul I,., a corporal in the army stationed in North Af rica; Mark Vunn, of the U. S. Navy, and John T.. of Mars Hill College; two daughters, Mrs. Frank lionhain, and Mrs. Howard Mann, of the Canton section; two sisters. Mis. Hobert Williams, of Canton, and Mrs. Ralph Medford, of Clyde and six grandchildren. MRS. CHESTER LONG Funeral services were conduct ed Wednesday afternoon at the Cove Creek Baptist Church for Mrs. Alice Dora Long, 47, wife of Chest er Long, of West Newton, route 1, Pa., who died in a hospital at Mt. Pleasant, Pa., at 8 p. m. Friday. The Rev. Eugene Moore, pastor of the church officiated. Burial was in the Davis cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: Guy Shelton, Will Long, Will Hannah, Dewey Franklin, Bud Leatherwood and Lester Long. Mrs. Long and her family for merly resided in the Cove Creek sec tion, but had been making their home in West Newton for the past several years. The body was brought here Tuesday. The Gar rett Funeral homy had charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Long is survived by her husband; five sons, Marion, Vonie, George and Tobie, all of West Newton, and Noble Long, now serv ing with the armed forces in North Africa; three daughters, Nicie, Edith and Annie Long, all of West Newton, Pa.; one half sister, Mrs. Jeff Cigalas, of Sevier County, Tennessee. I SAMUEL CUTSHAW j Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at the Richland Chapel for Samuel Cut 6haw, 10-year-old son of Mr', and Mrs. J. H. Cutshaw, who died at the North Carolina Orthopedic Hospital at 3 o'clock Friday morn ing. The Rev. Clark and the Kev. Smith, both of Canton, officiated. Burial was in the Dellwood ceme tery. Serving as pallbearers were: Cecil Heffner, Fred McClure. Frank Panter, and Fletcher Hill. In charge of the flowers were: Misses Estella Wright, Lucy Wright, Lucile Wright, Lener Joe Ruff and Pauline Harris. Surviving are the parents; seven sisters, Mrs. Crawford Ruff, of Waynesville, Miss Pearl Cutshaw, of ML Holly, and Miss Ruth Cut shaw, Mrs. Maggie Davis, Mrs. Otis Marshall, Mrs. Cecil Heffner, and Mrs. Fred McClure, all of Gas tonia; two brothers, William Cut shaw, of Gastonia, and David L.
