Buiffin entertained with a mis cellaneous shower on Friday even ing in compliment to Mrs. McClain Rogers, the former Miss Frances Ethel Bui-gin, whost marriage took place on June the 10th. The party was given at the home of Mrs. F. A. Burgin on Love Lane. The evening was featured by var ious games and contests. The bride was presented with a variety of lovely gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Knight and daughter, Maxine Knight, have re turned from Portsmouth, Va., where they spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Knight. July 15 Mrs. Francis A. Burgin has an nounced the marriage of her daugh ter, Miss Frances Ethel Burgin, of Newport News and Waynesville, to McClain T. Rogers, of Newport News and Waynesville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison T. Rogers, which took place in a ceremony on June 19th, in South Mills. Mrs. Rogers is a graduate of the Waynesville Township high school and attended the Asheville Normal College. For the past few years she has been employed in the office of the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Com pany. Mr. Rogers is a graduate of the Fines Creek high school. For the past few years he has been em ployed at the Newport News Ship building and Dry Dock Company. He ha? recently joined the Mer chant Marines and expects to be called into active service in the near future. The couple spent several days in this section of the state prior to going to their home in Newport News. Miss Janet Miller, who has been residing in Baltimore where she hold a position with the Social Se curity Board, arrives this week to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller. Master Adhton Therrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Therrell, of Knoxville and Bryson City, is visit ing his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Way, Jr. Rev. Robert Tatum, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, is attend ing a conference of Episcopal cler gymen this week and next at Lake Kanuga. He plans to return for the Sunday service here. 102 Books Have Been Added To Clyde Library (Sjiecial To The Mountaineer) Clyde Elementary Library has recently received a shipment of 102 books, according to Mrs. Joyce Haynes, the present librarian. This brings the total number of books to approximately 1200, a large number of books for an elementary library in a small school. The Clyde high school library also contains 1200 books. Includ ed in this large number of books are six sets of encyclopedias, three sets of Encyclopedias Britannica, two sets of World Books, one set of Compton's Encyclopedias, and one set of Richards Encyclopedias. Girls' Camp At Clyde Is Having A Good Season (Special To The Mountaineer) A group of 111 people, includ ing 85 campers, are staying at Mrs. Robert Harris' Skyland Girl's Camp at Clyde. The largest groups of campers are from Tampa, Jackson ville, Orlando and Ocallo, Florida. To take care of this large number of campers there is a staff of twenty-two instructors. RAY'S SONS Hazelwood Methodist Church To Sponsor Song Services Sing services will be conducted at the Hazelwood Methodist Church each Sunday morning during the months of July and August during the regular Sunday school period. Wyatt, of Waynesville, has returned to camp after spend ing a 29-day furlough with his mother, Mrs. Lena Wyatt and Miss Anna Bell Mull of Waynesville. He is now stationed at Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho. He was overseas for seventeen months. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Barnes and daughter, Elizabeth, of New port News, spent part of last we k here as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Waddell. MEDFORD, East street, Waynesville, has com pleted training as a member of the U. S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve, and is on active duty. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Medford. Cpl Mull is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Granvel Mull, of Waynesville. He has been in the U. S. Army for the past three years. He is now on ma neuvers in Tenn. Mrs. T. G. Stump and her daught- er, Gladys, spent the week-end in Andrews with Mr. Stump who holds a position there and with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Coalson, who are now lesiding there.
