Air Corps, vol unteered in the service in Septem ber, 1941- He took training at Keesler Field, then Miami Beach, and was transferred back to Kees ler Field. From the latter he was sent to Harrisburg, Pa., then Tuc son, Ariz. From Tucson he was sent to Orlando, and from there to his present post at McCook, Neb. Captain Withers was educated in the local school and Duke Univer sity. Prior to his entering the service he was employed as field manager of the Red Rock Bottlers, Inc. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Withers, of Waynesville. given by appointment. Commer cial classes are held in connection with the high school and also from 4:00 to 6:00 p. m. St. John's School has a faculty of thirteen teachers: Rev. Vincent J. Mahoney, Sister M. Cordea, prin cipal, Sister M. Aquinas, Sister M. Angelus, Sister M. Baptist, Sister M. Anthony, Mrs. Henry Tuttle, Miss Virginia Kellett, Sister M. Hermes, Sister M. Corinne, Sister M. Theonita, Sister M. Michael and Miss Marian Kramer. Rev. Vincent J. Mahoney teach es religion in the school. He has had two years experience in teach ing and holds a bachelor of arts de gree from St. Charles' Theological Seminary, Overbrook, Pa. His major work was done in psychology. Sister M. Cordea, principal of the school, teaches languages and his tory in the high school. She has had twenty-one years experience in teaching and has a master of arts degree from the Catholic Uni versity of America, Washington, D. C. Sister M. Au:na, superior of the convent, is head of St. John's School commercial department and teaches Spanisei. science and math ematics. Anthony, head of the music department, holds a doctor of music degree from St. Louis University, St. Louis Mo. She majored in music and has had twenty-six years of teaching experience. She holds a Nerth Carolina teaching certificate in music. Mrs. Henry Tuttle teaches physi cal tducation in the high school. She has a bachelor of arts degree from Converse College, Spartan . burg. S. C-. and majored in socio logy. Miss Virginia Kellett, instructor of journalism in the high school, has a bachelor of arts degree from Lenoir Rhyne College, Hickory, N. 1 C. She majored in commerce and i mathematics and holds a North ; Carolina teaching certificate in these subjects. Sister M. Hermes, teaches the seventh and eighth grades. She has had fourteen years of teach ing experience and holds a bache lor of science degree from St. Clare College, Milwaukee. Sister M. Corinne, teacher of the fourth, fifth and sixth grades, has had thirteen years experience as a teacher. She has a bachelor of science degree from St. Clare Col lege, Milwaukee, majoring in education. ! Sister M. Theonita teaches the first, second and third grades. She has had eleven years teaching ex perience and has a bachelor of I science degie fr, m St. Clare Col lege, Milwaukee. Sister M. Michael teaches music and has had one year of tradi ng ! experience. She graduated from tile music department of St. Clare College, Milwaukie. She also at tended music courses at the Ameri can Conservatory of Music, Chicago under the personal supervision of Louise Robyn. Miss Marian Kramer conducts the kindergarten. She graduated from St. Francis Nursing School, Peoria, 111., and holds an Illinois State Certificate of Nursing. Morrow, of Waynesville, has been graduat ed from the aircraft mechanic's school at Sevmour Johnson Field. 1:., .i, '; i ii, inf. tiling ail . yii iiiiiiiiiei. He spent four months learning and practicing all types of air craft maintenance and repair at the North Carolina station. He is a graduate of the loca1 high school, and was employed by the Newport News Shipyards as an electrician prior to entering the army in November, 1942. PVT. GUY W. KOWERS. son i of Mrs. Florence Bowers, of Can j ton and Maggie, who was induct- ed in the service on February 19, 1942, is now stationed at Sel fridge Field. Pvt- Bowers first reported to Fort Jackson, and from there was sent to Keesler Field, then to the air corps training department at Syracuse, N. Y. From the latter he was sent to Mitchell Field, then Rome, N. Y., and from the last named to Self ridge Field. From the latter he was sent on a guard detachment to Reading Air Base, Pa., and then to his present station. Before going into the service he was employed at the (irasy Kidge Mines. Cpl. Wilburn P. Campbell Returns After Furlough Corporal Wilburn Paul Camp bell recently returned to his post at North Camp Hood, Tex., after spending a IB-day furlough here with his wife who is now with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Camp bell. Cpl. Campbell was inducted at Camp Croft and from there trans ferred to Fort Jackson and from Pvt. William Khinehart Receives Promotion Private William Rufus Rhine hart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Rhinehart, of Lake Junaluska, has recently been promoted to the rank of corporal. Cpl. Rhinehart is serving with the anti-aircraft platoon at Fort Eustis, Va., prior to which he was stationed at Fort Bragg. Sergeant Charles L. Dot son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Dotson, of Clyde, spent several days last week visiting his family. Sgt. Dotson is now stationed at Camp Claiborne, La. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mine-hen, of New York, who have been visiting the tatter's family, plan to return home on Saturday of this week. They will be accompanied by Mrs. Minchen's sister, Mrs. Louise Francis Lupton- pleted advanced ground crew train ing at the Army Air Forces Tech nical Training Command school at Douglas Aircraft Corp, Long Beach, Calif.
