Americans should honestly pledge themselves
to work untiringly for Victory . . .
It matters not whether you work in the field, a defense
plant, on a farm, at home or in an office, you and every other
American has a definite job to do.
On this Labor Day, when homage is paid the men and wo
men who toil, we should be mindful of tomorrow, the day after,
next week, next month, next year, and generations to come. Our
peace and happiness in the future depends on what we accom
plish today in defeating our enemies.
Failure to do your part means longer delay of Victory
and Peace.
A Labor Day Pledge
In memory of all those who have
paid the Supreme Price for Victory,
we re-dedicate ourselves to support
every worthy war effort.
The Men On Every Front
Deserve This,
The Need
Is Urgent.
It means only fitting in this Labor Day Mes
sage of 1943, to point out one of the urgent needs
of America today. Our fighting men must have
items made from CHESTNUT ACIDWOOD and
Pulpwoods.
These vital raw materials abound plentifully
in this county. It is just a matter of rolling up
our sleeves and using our axes to slash the Axis.
The CHESTNUT ACIDWOOD is needed to
tan leather for our fighting men's shoes. The -vital
Pulpwoods are needed for gunpowder, con
tainers for shells, for packing foods, and for
endless other important items.
The Champion Paper and Fibre Company
has an important war job to do. Chestnut Acid
wood and Pulpwoods are the essential raw ma
terials which we must have in order hot to fail
the boys at the front.
