Spends Leave Here
Apprentice Seaman Gilmer Cagle
son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Cagle,
of .Waynesville, left Monday for
Bainbridge, Md., where he report
ed after spending a nine days leave
with his parents here.
Seaman Cagle enlisted in the ser
vice in Raleigh on July 28 of this
yeaT, and from there was sent to
Bainbridge for his boot training.
Prior to entering the U. S. Navy,
Seaman Cagle was employed as f
chef at Charlie's Cafe here.
Pfc. Joseph H. Way, HI,
Home On Furlough
Private First Class Joseph H.
Way, III, who is a student at the
school of Dentistry at the Rich
mond Medical College, spent a six
day furlough here this week with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Way, Jr.
Pfc. Way volunteered in the ser
vice in July, 1942, and is subject to
call for active duty. He is a grad
uate of Mars Hill College and Wake
Forest College.
Pfc. Troutman Returns
After Visiting Here
Pfc William T. Troutman has re
turned to his base after spending
a leave here with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Elias Troutman.
Pfc. Troutman, who is with the
Armed Infantry, entered the ser
vice on March 11, 1942, he receiv
ed his basic training at Camp Polk,
La., and a desert training center in
Calif. He is now stationed at Fort
Benning, Ga.
Pvt. Everett Frady
Here On Furlough
Private Everett Frady, son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Frady, of route
1, spent a four-day furlough here
with his parents. Pvt. Frady is
now stationed at Los Angeles. Be
fore entering the armed forces he
was a student at the Waynesville
Township high school.

Leave With Grandmother
Lt. Tom Hill, who is attached to
the Chemical Warfare service,
left yesterday for Atlanta where
he will visit his sister, Miss Kath
eryn Hill, who is a student at Agnes
Scott College, after visiting "his
grandmother, Mrs. Charles 1 B,
