The guests were received tiy his mother and Betty Nichols. Games and dancing featured the evening, following which the guests were invited into the dining room where the table was centered with a cake bearing lighted candles. Assisting in serving were his grandmother, Mrs. Silas Nichols, his mothi r and his aunt. The honor guest received many gifts from the following guests: Betty Ramey, Catherine Blankenship, Betty Parris, Frances Scates, Phyl lis Ferguson, Dot Miller, Happy Hudson, Barbara Hale, Ann Ful bright, Betty Nichols, Jackie Coin, Carol Grahl, Joe Christopher, Fletcher Ferguson, Buddy Wilson, eb Alley, Hubert Caldwell, James Moore, Vernon Steading, Teddy Huntley, and Joe Kerley. i Mrs. L. Both recently spent a short leave here with their parents, and both were employed by the A. C. Lawrence Leather Company prior to entering the service. John McCury Wyatt Mr. and Mrs. John Russell Wyatt have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Mildred Rus sell Wyatt to Private First Class John McCury Wyatt, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Wyatt, of Allen's Creek. The wedding took place in Clayton, Ga., on March 3rd. Pfc. Wyatt has returned to his post at Fort Leonard Wood, while Mrs. Wyatt is making her home with her. parents on Allen's Creek for the present. Canton State Guard To Sponsor April Fool Dance Saturday Evening The Canton unit of the State Guard is sponsoring an April Fool benefit dance on Saturday, April 1 at the Canton armory. Dancing will begin at 8:30 with dress op tional. Invitations have been ex tended to the Weather and Com munications wing, Army Air Force, Asheville. Service men in uniform will b' admitted free of any charge. Music will be furnished by Bobbie Allen and b's Brown Buddies Orchestra. Tickets are on sale at Martin's Drug Store, Canton. Evening Worship Hour Changed In Local Churches The evening worship hour in the churches having evening worship will be changed beginning today to 8 p. m. The other evening acti vities will b? changed accordingly, it was learned from a representa tive of the ministerial group. Mrs. Elmer Dudley, of Indian Head, Md., is spending several days here with her mother, Mrs. W. A. Whitner, who has been very ill, but is now improving. Mrs. Lawrence Kerley spent the week-end in Atlanta rs the truest of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Lamply. Sgt. and Mrs. Claude B. Morgan, of New Orleans, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Porter McCIure for a few days last week. Mrs. Morgan is the former Miss Hazel Withers. Mrs. Porter McCIure spent a few days last week in Memphis, Tenn., with her daughter, Arbutus, who is recovering from an apendicitis ope. ration.
