Tho Chilean has been working on his Master's degree for the past year and a half at the University of Michigan and came to North Carolina for the purpose of obser ving public water supplies, in con struction, operation and mainten ance. He plans to visit several states be fore returning to Chile at the end of the year. The Waynesville system which is a surface chlo rine supply with a protected water shed, is a type of water supply in which he is especially interested, due to the similarity of this section to the mountaineous areas of Chilo, and the fact that he will be con structing the same type of water supplies in Chile. One of Mr. Gonzalez's instruc tors at the University of Michigan is H. E. Miller, of this state, vho was the former director of the Di vision of Sanitation Engineering of the North Carolina State Board of Health, advised him to include North Carolina in his tour of ob servation.
