THE WAYNESVILLE MOUNTAINEER (One Day Nearer Victory) THURSDAY, AUGUST u , - " It isn't over yet In this third year of war, our fight ing men are on the March of Victory to Berlin. They are well on the way to Bataan. And this year, as the free labor of America celebrates its Labor Day, every American worker can well feel proud of Ills and her part in backing the men with the guns. Hitler and Tojo thought Americans were "decadent." The American fighter answered with his gun. The American worker put that gun in his hand. A peaceful country was turned into a war time arsenal through the hard work of the home front army. Specifically here at Dayton Rubber, our workers are turning out hundreds of pontons now being thrown across the rivers of Burma, France and Italy by our Army Engineers. The life rafts produced have saved and will save scores of lives of American and Allied airmen. o o o Our workers making Dayton Oxy gen Hose are meeting an urgent demand from the Army Air Forces and from the Navy for thousands of oxygen hose for B-29's (now bombing Japan's home is lands), B-17's, the Navy's Corsairs, Cur tiss Helldivers, and other high-altitude planes. The V-Belts made here are a special type for the textile industry which pro duces war materials. Our textile products are helping make parachutes, uniforms, bandages. But our workers know that while Germany is on the run, this Labor Day is not an occasion to celebrate Victory yet. The enemy is badly shaken. But he is not beaten. They know that war ma terials are still needed and, now that the pace has quickened, needed in greater quantities than ever. So our Dayton Rubber war workers are staying on the job right to the very last minute. Until our men come march ing home triumphant. At the Gateway of The Textile Industry IfG. TUM MAM HAYWOOD?
