Carpenter Bride-Elect's Maid Of Honor Gives Breakfast Miss Martha Way was hostess of a wedding breakfast at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Way, Jr., to the Wagenfeld-Anton bridal party on Sunday noon. The bridal motif was observed in the flowers and the appointments. The bride and bridegroom with members of the bridal party were seated at one long table, while the other guests were seated at small tables. .Each table was centered with an arrangement of white as ters and clematis. Places were marked by hand painted place cards of brides. Miss Way was as sisted in receiving by her sister, Miss Hilda Way, and Mrs. Hubert O'Donnell. After the serving of breakfast the bride was presented with a dozen crystal glasses. Those attending the affair were: Miss Corinne Wagenfeld and Lt. Robert Anton, Miss Ruth Wagen feld, Aviation Cadet Harry Evans, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. JACK F. IIOGAN, tle IVmor Miss Polly Francis, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Francis, whose marriage to Lt. Jack F. Hogan, U. S. Air Forces, which took place on July 17, in Columbia, S. C, has been announced by htr parents. Mrs. Hogan is a graduate of the Waynesville township high school and of Virginia Intermont ColleRe of Bristol, Va. She was active in all phases of high school and college life. Lt. Hogan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G rover B. Hogan, of Iron Duff. He returned in April from a year's service overseas. He com pleted fifty missions over enemy territory, and served as a pilot of a B-25 Mitchell bomber. Lt. Hogan made missions in the Mediterranean, Sicily, Sardonia, Naples, Corsica and other places in the war theatre. He piloted his ship on three missions on one day over Salerno in that area. He has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and has to his credit nine Oak Leaf Clusters. He was promoted from flight ohVer to first lieutenant while overseas, but did not get his silver bars until he arrived in the States. At present Lt. Hogan is serving as an instruc tor at the Air Base in Columbia, S. C. Ho is a graduate of the Clyde high school. Local Eastern Star Members Guests In Canton Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Miss Wagenfeld Honored With Dinner Party The former Miss Corinne Wag enfeld, whose marriage to Lt. Rob ert F. Anton, USNR, of Ports mouth, Va., was an important event of the week, was given a dinner part on Thursday evening at the Parkway Hotel by Mrs. T. Lenoir Gwyn. Miss Wagenfeld was pre sented with a wift of linen. The guests were seated at one long table which was centered with an oblong arrangement of white flowers. Joint Hostesses Honor Bride With Contract Luncheon Mrs. J. Wilford Ray and Mrs. A. II. Dubreuil were joint hos tesses on Thursday of a luncheon in honor of the former Miss Corinne Wagenfeld, whose marriage- took place on Sunday after noon to Lt. Robert F. Anton. The affair was held at the home f Mrs. Uay and quantilii's of late summer flowers were used through out the residence. On the bride's table a color motif of pink and white was used, while mixed ar rangements were noted on the other tables. Following the serving of lunch con the pucsts enjoyed several spirited progressions of contract. Earley Announce Marriage Of Daughter On August 26 Mr. and Mrs. Albert Earley, of Waynesville, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Edith Earley, to James H. Tram- mell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Trammell. The marriage was sol emnized on Saturday, August 26, in Clayton, Ga. The couple were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Mack Mercer, and Miss Leona Trammell. For the present the couple are making their home with the bride s parents. guests over the week-end, Miss Faye Chambers of Marion, Miss Anne Dam toft of Asheville, Miss Elizabeth Peden of Canton, and Miss Charlotte Crawford of New London, Conn., and Black Moun tain. Miss Gwyn and her guests were classmates at St. Mary's School, Raleigh. Mrs. Howard Jennings, who has served as a counselor at Camp Red Winpr, in the Adirondacks, for sev eral summers, is expected to ar-. rive home in the near future. She will visit friends in Canada and New York City before coming home.
