Greetings will be brought the dis
trict by Miss Mary Margaret
Smith, Haywood county home dem
onstration agent, and Mrs. J. R.
McCracken, district supervisor of
nurses in the health department
Mrs. E. L. McKee, of Sylva, will
introduce Mrs. J. Henry High
smith. Reports will be presented from
all the clubs in the district by the
presidents. Mrs. V. L. Matney
will serve as organist and Mrs.
Fred Martin as soloist. A count
will be made of those attending
and a prize given the club having
the largest number present based
on mileage traveled. Luncheon,
which will close the meeting, will
be served at the home of Mrs. T.
C. Norris. Mrs. Cornelia Nixon of
the hostess club will be in charge
of the music during the luncheon.

Using What We Haev" at their
October meetings, it was learned
from the county home agents, Miss
Mary Margaret Smith and her as
sistant, Miss Jewel Graham.
The schedule of the October
meetings through the 13th of the
month are as follows: Beaverdam
Club Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, at 2 o'clock
with Mrs. Will Clark; the Allen's
Creek Club with Mrs. R. M. Wad
dell, on Wednesday afternoon at 4
o'clock, on 4th; Dellwood Club at
the school house this afternoon at
2 o'clock.

Christine Rogers
Becomes Bride Of
R. L. Luther, S 2c
Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Rogers of
Clyde, R.F.D. No. 1, have announc
ed the marriage of their daughter,
Miss Christine Rogers, to Russell
L. Luther, seaman second class,
son of Mrs. Ted Luther and the
late Mr. Luther of Lake Junaluska.
The vows were solmniied on
July 31 at Purcell, Okla. The bride
wore an ensemble of powder blue
with navy blue accessories.
Mrs. Luther is a graduate of the
Crabtree high school and was em
ployed at the Dayton Rubber plant
before her marriage. At present
she holds a position with the J. D.
Hardy Insurance Company of Pur
cell, Okla.
Seaman Luther received his edu
cation at the Crabtree high school.
He was inducted in the service in
May of this year and at present is
stationed in Purcell, Okla.
Mrs. C. G. Medford, of Lake
Junaluska, is spending a few weeks
in Virginia with her husband and
son, Lawrence Medford, radio man
third class.
Mr. and Mrs. Furman L- Jones
have arrived from Oak Landing,
N. Y., where they have spent the
summer and are at home at their
residence at 1138 Killian Street
Mrs. Paul McElroy and daugh
ter, Miss Dorothy McElroy, have
gone to Baltimore, Md., for the
winter after spending the summer
here at their home on Love Lane.
Miss McElroy will resume her
studies at the Maryland Institute
of Art, where she was a student
last year.
Miss Marie Hembree
Becomes Bride Of
Frederick S. Turnmyre
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hembree of
Waynesville, announce the mar
riage of their daughter, Miss Marie
Hembree, to Frederick Stevenson
Turnmyre of Hickory, which took
place in South Carolina in March.
The bride is a eraduate of the
Waynesville high school and is now
holding a position as an engineer
ing draftsman in the navy yard in
Washington, D. C
The bridegroom is a radioman,
second class, in the U- S. Navy and
has been in service for the past
three and one-half vears. He serv
ed on sea duty in the South Pa
cific for two years, and from there
was transferred in March to Wash
ington, D- C-, for advanced radio
training. He will complete the
course in November.
The couple are making their
home in Washington, D. C, for the
present.
Miss Hazel McGaha, who is em
ployed in Pittsburg, Pa., is visit
ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burl
McGaha on Plott Creek.
Miss Blanche Feriruson has re
turned to Washington 1). C, where
she has a position with the Navy
Department, after spending her va
cation here with hor mother, Mrs.
H. ('. Ferguson, and other relatives.
Zi'b Doyle Alley, son of Mrs.
Edith P. Alley, has entered the
Oak Ridge Military Academy as
a student for the current term.
Mrs. W. H. Noland and daugh
ter, Miss Frangie Noland, are vis
iting the former's son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Francis, in Wilmington, this week.
