Last Rites Held For
Mrs.A.Yarborough
Tuesday Afternoon
Funeral services were conducted
at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at
the Antioch Baptist Church in Iron
Duff Township for Mrs. Rebecca
Adeline Yarborough, 89, who died
at the home of her son, James
Yarborough, at Lake Junaluska
at 4:45 Sunday morning. Rev.
Miles McLean, pastor of Long's
Chapel Methodist Church, Lake
Junaluska, and Rev. Benfield, of
Canton, officiated. Burial was in
the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Grady, Alvin,
Bob and Marvin Yarborough,
Manse Cagle and James Leather
wood. Surviving are one son; one sis
ter, Mrs. Amelia White of Lake
Junaluska, and one brother,
Thomas Yarborough, of Jonathan
Creek; 12 grandchildren, 18 great
grandchildren, and two great great
grandchildren. Four grandsons
are members of the armed forces.
Garrett Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
Lions Club Changes
Hour Of Meeting
In Winter Schedule
The Lions Club have changed the
hour of their meeting from 7:30
to 7:00 o'clock and the new sched
ule will continue through the win
ter months, it was announced yes
terday. The group are asked to meet at
Mrs. Norris' at their regular week
ly meeting at 7:00 o'clock and
from there will go to the Armory
where they will take part in a
recreational program.

The following story of Lt. Don
ald Dunham, Jr., son of Donald
Dunham ,owner and operator of
the Dunham House here, will be
of interest to friends locally. The
following story of the young at
torney of St. Augustine, Fla., ap
peared in the St. Augustine Ob
server in a recent edition:
"In the Spring of 1942 a well
groomed young man entered the
room where a naval procurement
office sat behind a desk. Quizzi
cally the officer remarked, 'Now,
don't tell me you are another
bright young attorney who wants
to be captain of a ship?'
"Well, sir," the young man re
plied, 'I am an attorney.'
"The officer writhed in mock
anguish, but he continued, 'Ever
been on the water?'
"The young man grinned and St.
Augustine readers will know why
he did so, for he was Donald Dun
ham, Jr., who after receiving his

await him in San Diego. He has
since commanded every ship to
which he has been assigned."
