New Tobacco Grower Allotments Are Announced In order to secure a New Grower Burley Tobacco Allotment for 1945 it will be necessary for the eligible producer to males application prior to February 1, 1945, according to R. C. Francis, chairman of the Haywood County AAA Committee. To be eligible to file a request for a new grower allotment either the landlord or tenant shall have had experience in growing flue cured or burley tobacco during the past hve years. The grower shall he living on the farm and largely dependent on the farm fur his livelihood. Mr. Fran cis stated that he wished to empha size that only producers who have had experience in e-rowinc inhan should file grower allotment. Neeson II. Smith Promoted To Captain Lt. Neeson H. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy S. Smith, of Way nesville, now stationed in Franc?, nas been promoted to Captain, ac cording to information received by his family here. He entered the service on April 28, 1942 and was inducted at Fort Jackson. From there he was trans ferred to Sheppard Field, Tex., and at the time was serving in the Air Corps. Later he was sent to Offi cers Candidate School at Camp Lee Va. From the latter he was sent to Camp Ellis, 111. In July, 1944 he went to England as a First Lieutenant. Here he served for three months and was then transferred to France. He is attached to the Quartermaster Corps. In September, 1944 Capt. Smith met his brother, Cpl. Troy S. Smith, Jr., in England, whom he had not seen for two years. At the time he entered the ser vice he was manager of Ray's Super Market, the acreage to AAA office in fall of 1945, and the county office will issue him a 100 per cent excess card on which to market his tobacco Mountaineers Meet Fines Creek Here Friday Night, 7:30 The Waynesville Mountaineers will meet the Fines Creek cagers in a doubleheader on the local high school court Friday evening at 7:30.
