Cagle Serving With Distinction On Leyte Pvt. Lloyd L. Cagle, son' of Mrs. Margaret Cagle, of Waynesville, R.F.D. No. 2, is serving with the First Cavalry Division on Leyte. It has been a dangerous assign ment, where bridges are built under on January 9th. Mr. and Mrs. John Reeves, of Lake Junaluska, announce the birth of a daughter on January 9th. Cagle to prrtect them, according to information received from head quarters of the area. On one wide and swift stream, the engineers worked for three hectic hours under fire. From above, they were harassed by con stant air attacks. From the near by hills, they were under constant sniper fire. But the men worked with confidence, for they knew that the machine gunners were holding off the enemy. So well did they do their job that not one man was lost.
