Duponl-Nenio.'i-s Foundation, who lives at Clemson College, Clemson, S. C, delivered a lecture Monday afternoon at St, John's on 'Better Things for Bel ter Living Through Chemistry." In his talk Dr. Brunei- stressed the fact that the war is being fought and won in the research laboratory. Hie home. Dr. Brunei- went on to say. it has also become a gigan tic conflict between the numerous products of chemical engineering and technical research. Dr. Brunei- (old of the speed with which research has been used to develop numerous chemical products and replacements for unavailable ma terials required for all-out war. Many of these materials i ome from the farm and forest -for example, cotton and v.ood which are two of the basic farm resources of the South. Dr. Brunei- made il clear that several important materials now of utmost importance in the war were not even known or were just emerging from the test-tube stage to commercial applications when the war began. The speaker emphasized the fact that after the war, of course, the tremendous fund of scientific in formation now being created by wartime necessity will be utilized for the making of things for post war peacetime uses undreamed of only a short lime ago. Se served in England, France, Belgium and Germany. Prior to entering the service he was em ployed by the North Carolina Shipbuilding Company, Wilming ton. Pvt. Trantham will report to the McQuire General Hospital, Richmond, Va., where he will re ceive treatment.
