No. 2 spent a week-end leave in the county with her family. She entered the service on July 27, 1944; and enlisted in Knox vflle, Tenn., and was sent to Hunter College, Bronx, N. y., for training. Upon completion of this course she was sent to Beth esda, Md., for corps training. Frori the latter she was transferred to Camp Lejuene and later to Cher ry Point. At present she is sta tioned at Atlantic Field. Prior to entering the service she was a nurses aide at the Haywood County Hospital and then at St. Joseph's Hospital, Asheville. She is a graduate of the Bethel high school. She has four brothers in the service, Cpl. Cecil E. Mann, and Cpl. James Mann, both in France. Pfc. George Mann, stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., and Pfc. Mar sell Mann, at Harrisonburg, Pa. Another brother; Pvt. Troy W. Mann, has recently been discharg ed fro'rrt the' army. 'J v ALBERT RAINES AND GQRDON RAINES, sons of Mrs Nelson Curtis and the late Bill Raines, of Waynesville. H.F.I)., are serving in the armed forces. Albert Raines, seaman first class, entered the service in August, 1943, and took his boot training at Bainbridgc, Md. He was assigned to sea duty upon completion of: this training and has served for the past 18 months in the Pacific area. At the time he entered the navy he was employed by the Welled" Shoe Corporation. Gordon Haines, apprentice seaman, entered the service on February 22, 1945, and was sent to Bainbridgc, Md . for his hoot training. After completion of boot training he was sent to Camp Peary, Va., where he is now stationed. He also was employed by the Wellco Shoe Corporation at the time he enlisted in the nay. WESTERN.
