The Pigeon River District court
of honor, Boy Scouts, was he'd at
the Clyde Baptist church on Mon

ing. The invocation was given by

Dies At Home Of
Her Mother Here
Last rites were conducted Sat
urday afternoon at the Presbyter
ian church" here for Mrs. Mary
Willie Rotha Carter, 27, wife of
I Charles B. Carter, of Frankfort, N
Y.. who died at the home of her
mother. Mrs. Harry Rotha, on
'Thursday morning following a
lengthy illness.
Rev. Malcolm R. Williamson,
pastor of the church, and Rev S.
K Crocket' a former pastor, of
ficiated. Burial was in Green Hill
cemetery.
Pallbearers were: John Bonnet,
of Asheville. Rush Wray. and Boh
Pollard, of Burnsville, and Charles
K. Ray. Leo Reiger. Carleton K.
Weatherby. William Shoolbred and
Dr. H. O. Champion.
Mrs. Carter was a graduate of
the Woman's College of the Uni
versity of North Carolina. She
was married to Mr. Carter in Jan
uary, 1942 Her husband served
overseas for twenty-seven months
and returned to the States in No
vember, 1944. and was discharged
in February of this year.
In addition to her husband and
mother, she is survived by two
brothers. George Rotha, of Char
lotte, and Pvt. Harry Rotha. of
Fort Jackson: four sisters. Mrs
Martin Berry, of Pleasant Valley.

Mrs. Nesta Haynes
News has been received by rel
atives of the death of Mrs. Nesta
Haynes. sister of Mrs. T. H.
Haynes, of Clyde, arid Mrs. J. R.
Stephens, of Canton, which occur
red in San Francisco. Calif., on
June 4.
Mrs. Haynes was a native of
Haywood county, the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Kerr Cathey,
of Bethel and Clyde. She was
first married to Harlan Brooks, of
this section and after his death
to Robert' Haynes, of Clyde, who
died soon after they moved to
California around fifteen years
ago.
Besides two sisters mentioned
she is survived by two sons. Gene
and KI lis Brooks, and a daughter,
Mrs. Floyd Oliphant, all of San
Fi iiiicisco, and another sister,
Mis K. S. Reeves, of Weavervllle.

Mrs. Gibson was the daughter of
the late James and Maltie Miller

had been ill for sometime.
She is survived in addition to
her husband by five brothers, Jake
and Reuben Goodson, of Canton,

church for William Riley Boyd.

an extended illness.

Charles, all of Waynesville.

; spending a ten-day leave here with
l his parents and his wife and two
children. Lt. Davis has recently
been assigned to land duty fol
j lowing 14 months in the Atlantic
tneatre.
Lt. Davis entered the U. S Navy
as a volunteer in August. 1943
At the time he entered the ser
vice he was associated with Ins

estate and insurance firm

Hill, Ohio, died suddenly from a
heart attack on Saturday at 12:30
o'clock at the home of his son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs
E. M. Rothermel, with whom he
had lived for the past two years
Services were conducted at 3
o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gar
rett Funeral Home by Rev Robert
G. Tatuin, rector of Grace Episco
pal church, after which Hie body
was taken to Pleasant Hill for
burial on Tuesday.
Mr. Kappock, a native of Ohio,
was survived by two children, his
daughter and one son. Sergeant
Robert Kappock. U. S. Air Corps.
stationed at Tucson. Ariz ; four
sisters. Mrs. Don Overman, of
Plymouth. Mrs. Bertha Edmund
son, of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Liu'a
C. Miles and Mrs. Jesse Berry,
both of Pleasant Hill. Ohio, and
three grandsons.
