Carpenter, who in a short address paid high tribute to Mr. Newell as a lawyer and citizen. Judge Luther Hamil ton of Morehead City, presiding jurist, also expressed his sorrow at the death of Mr. Newell and spoke in high terms of his life anil service. The court adjourned in the afternoon in respect to Mr Newell and Judge Hamilton order ed that the minutes of the courf carry the record of the adjournment.
