The couple are residing for the present with the parents of the bridegroom. Nancy Francis Gives Party On 11th Birthday Anniversary Nancy Francis, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Francis, was hostess of a party on Saturday aft ernoon at her home in ouserv ance of her 11th birthday anniver sary. She was assisted in receiv ing and entertaining her young friends by her parents, her grand mother, Mrs. M. H. Reeves, Mrs. R. Stuart Roberson, and Miss Dor othy Richeson. The Hallowe'en motif was car ried out in all the appointments and games featured the afternoon, followed by the serving of ices, cakes and candies. The members will meet in the youth chapel of the church and a large attendance is anticipated to hear Miss Harris tell of her experi ences. Major J. C. Lynn Now In Germany On Food Control Major John C. Lynn, former Haywood county farm agent and at the time he entered service dis trict farm agent, is now serving in Germany with the American control food and agricultural sec tion, according to information re ceived by friends. Major Lynn, it was learned from an Associated Press dispatch from Berlin has reported that Soviet Russia is interested in the Von Dengbusch process of extracting proteins from the Lupine plant in order to enlarge the German food diet. The process is that of Prof. Reinhold von Sengbusch of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institutee. The lupin is a bean like plant and grows in the Russian zone and the Russians are much interested in the process according to the former Haywood agent. Dunham House Closed Saturday After Successful Season The Dunham House, popular summer resort was closed on Sat urday, Sept. 29, after the most successful season of the past ten years, according to the owner and operator, Donald Dunham. Mr. Dunham is leaving today for his home in Jacksonville, Fla., where he will join Mrs. Dunham for the winter months. Judge and Mrs. Smathers Have Many Guests At Their Home Recently Captain and Mrs. Phililp Myers are expected to arrive next week for a visit with Judge and Mrs Frank Smathers. Captain Myers, the son-in-law of Judge and Mrs Smathers, has recently returned from the European theater where he has spent three years, having been attached to the Second Ar mored Division known as "Hell on Wheels." Judge and Mrs. Smathers have had among other recent guests, their son and daughter-in-law, Major and Mrs. George Smathers, of Miami; Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Houks, of Montclair, N. J., for merly of Miami; Mr. and Mrs. H. Dale Miller, Jr., Mrs. H. Dale Mil ler, of Hendersonville and Miami; and Col. and Mrs. John Stembler, of Atlanta. Sgt. Glenn Green Home on Furlough Sergeant Glenn Green, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sible Green, of Fines Creek, has arrived from the Pacific theater, where he served with the 3119th Signal Corps for a tour of 33 months duty. Sgt. Green entered the service in August, 1942, and was Inducted at Fort Jackson. He was engaged in farming at the time he entered the service. . When his furlough is completed Sgt. Green Will report to Camp Crowder, Mo., for his next assign ment. He is entitled to wear the Pacific theater of operations rib bon, Good Conduct and the 14th Corps patch.
