Those present for the party were the members of the Herman kin dergarten, which is being conduct ed in the educational building of the Baptist church through the courtesy of the congregation. The guests included Cecelia Braran. Shirley May Bridges, Babs Bush nell. Carol Colvard. Lynda Colvard, Jane Davenport. Elizabeth. Ann Parkman. Joan Provost. Mary Jane Queen, Gray Walkins. Linda Wood. with Mrs. J. R. Morgan, of Waynes ville. as superintendent. A good program has been ar ranged, with Miss Olive Lawton, of China, as the misisonary speaker for the morning session. Miss Katheryn Abee, of Raleigh, Stale Young People's leader, will speak during the afternoon Young People's hour which will be under the leadership of Mrs. J. R. Owen, of Asheville. Mrs. Owen is in charge of the wink of the division. All counselors are expected to at tend this part of the program. All officers, members and coun selors of the local societies in Hay wood county along with the mem bers of other associations are urged to he present. Pastors are invited to come and also till their cars with members. Churches not having missionary organizations are urged to attend. Lunch will be served at the noon hour according to the usual plans. Aline May Reed Is Wedded To Sgt. Athol Holder Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Aline May Reed, daughter of Mrs. O. W. Reed, of Sweetwater. Texas, to Technical Sergeant Athol Holder, of Hope well. Va.. formerly of Haywood county, son of Mr. and Mrs. .1 H Holder, of Hopewell. Va.. which took place on August 12 at the ranch home of the bride's mother, in a candlelight ceremony at H:H() o'clock in the evening. Arrangements ot white dahlias and gladioli were used as an ef fective background lor the taking ot the vows, which were pro nounced by Rev. C. T Hawkins, pastor of the Methodist church of Abilene, Texas. Only close friends and relatives were present for the ceremony The bride wore a gown of white slipper satin, fashioned with a long filled bodice, trimmed with tiny buttons. The sweetheart neckline was outlined in seed pearls, the sleeves were bracelet length and the skirt fell in a Imw m-.-uWiii train. Her veil of illusion was held in place by a coronet of white satin. Her bouquet was of gar denias and white gladioli tied with while satin ribbon. Miss Jessie Lou Monroe, of Divide, Texas, a former classmate of the bride, was maid of honor. She won- a gown of niiYwler li,, and her flowers were pink gladioli and carnations. lila Mae King, niece of the bride, served as train-bearer and she wore a truck of blue with (lowers in her hair. S Sgt James Carey, of Auenger Field. Texas, anil Greenville N. ('., served as best man. Mrs Reed, mother of the bride, wore a navy blue sheer with a cor sage of pink asters. Following the ceremony the bride's mother entertained with a reception, which was attended by only the close friends and immedi ate family. A three tier wedding cake was used on the bride's table which was decorated in white gladioli and greenery. The bride is an honor graduate of the Divide High school and McMurray college, of Abilene, Texas. She has been a member of the faculty of Comnn school, serving both as teacher and ath letic coach, and for the past three years her group has won in the city wide football contests. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Na tional honorary society in college and of the Ma Lambda Kappa and other campus groups. She is a member of the Sweetwater Beta Sigma Phi society. Sgt. Holder is a graduate of the Fines Creek High school. He en listed in the U. S. Army air forces in 1942 and served in the Aleu tians, before being sent to Auenger field, Jexas, as line chief. After the wedding trip the couple returned to Sweetwater where they will reside. Mrs. Holder is continuing teaching in the Coman school. F. Swift, regent, presiding. The program will center around the 55th anniversary of the Na tional Society with Mrs. Charles K. Quinlan in charge. Mrs. Quinlan will review th work of the organi zation and much of its historical contribution. Mrs. J. F. Abel will give a resume of the DAR National magazine.
