Mrs. Damour Is
Married To J.
R. Thomas, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. James L. White,
of Hillsboro. Ga., have announced
the marriage of their daughter,
Mrs. Mozelle Damour, to James
Robert Thomas, Jr., which took
place in Monticello, Ga.. on Wed
nesday, October 17th. Only close
friends and members of the family
were present for the ceremony.
The bride is the eldest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. White and was
graduated from the Monticello
high school, of Monticello, ua ana
attended Wesleyan College, in
Macon, after which she was grad
uated from the Macon School of
Nursing.
The bridegroom is the son ot
Mrs. James R. Thomas, of Waynes-
ville and the late Mr. Thomas. He
was educated in the local high
school and Western Carolina
Teachers College. For the past
several years he was connected
with the Southern Mapping and
Engineering Company, of Greens
boro, during which time he spent
several months in South America
and on the Pacific coast. At pies
ent he holds a position with the
REA with headquarters in Ashe
vllle, where the couple will make
their home.

Supper On Birthday
Elizabeth Barber, young daugh
ter of Mr .and Mrs. Richard N.
Barber, Jr., was hostess of a hay
ride on Saturday afternoon in ob
servance of her seventh birthday
anniversary. The guests were
driven to the Barber orchards and
from there were driven in a wagon
to the Barber residence on me
Dellwood road by W. T. Kirkpat-rick.
Upon arrival at home the young
hostess assisted by her mother
served a wiener roast supper at
the outdoor fireplace. The Hallo
we'en motif was noted in the favors
and appointments.
The guest list included: Ann Wil
liam Prevost, Florence Ann Bowles,
Agnes Jane Roberson, Sarah Linda
Abel, Florrie Patrick, Elizabeth
Watkins, Anne Hardin and Mary
Barber.
Miss Betty Jane Bradley, who is
attending the University of Ten
nessee, recently made her parents

Attends Daughter's
Graduation At U. of N.C.
Mrs. J. Colvin Brown has re
turned from Chapel HUI where she
attended the graduation exercises,
which was the last war time grad
uation held under the accelerated
program between the Navy and the
University. A large number of
parents were present for the grant
ing of commissions and awarding
of degrees to the graduates. Vice
Admiral David Worth Bagley, USN,
made the principal address. Gov
ernor Cherry also had part on the
program.
Miss Ruby Frances Brown re
ceived the Bachelor of Arts degree
from the College of Arts and
Science. She majored in govern
ment and public relation?; and
minored in journalism. She did not
return with her mother but will
arrive this week from Greensboro,
where she stopped off for a visit
with friends. Miss Brown plans to
spend sometime here with her par
ents.
