Ga. He is a graduate of the Waynesville Township hifih school. Sgt. Gene Med ford Serving in Korea With 5th Air Force Sergeant Gene R. Medford. son of Mr. Hoss L. Medford. of Waynes ville, R.F.D., is now in Korea serv ing with an airplane squadron of the Fifth Air Force Service Command in the occupational Fifth Air Force, according to in formation received from I he head quarters in Tokyo. Sgt. Medford has been overseas for the past 21 months and is serving as a cook with the com mand which supplies and main tains fighters and bombers of the occupational air force. Sgt. Har rell. son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harrell, of Cove Creek, received his discharge this week from Camp Gruber, Okla. He entered the ser vice in 1943 and was inducted at PFort Jackson. From the latter he was transferred to Fort Belvoir. Va., and was sent overseas in July, 1944. He served in Kngland, France and Germain. Pfc. Harrell is entitled to wear the Good Conduct medal. Kuropean theater ribbon with two battle stars and Victory medal. Pfc. Albert L. Phillips Receives Discharge Private First Class Albert L. Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Temp Phillips, of Cove Creek section of the county, received his discharge from the armed forces at ton Bragg on November 8. He enter ed the service on January 14. 1943 and was inducted at Camp Croft. From Croit he was sent to Camp Swift, Tex., and was sent overseas in September, 1943. He served in the Eurooean theater, where he was attached to Company I, 168th Infantry, of the 5th Army. Pfc. Phillips served in Africa and Italy and is entitled to wear the European theater ribbon with three battle stars. Good Conduct mpdal. Victory medal, American Defense and Infantryman Combat hariep.
