Lions Club Will
Not Have Regular
Meeting tonight
In view of the fact that Thanks
giving comes on Thursday of this
week the Waynesville Lions Club
will not have their regular meeting.
The next regular meeting will be
Thursday, November 29th.
At the last meeting Fred I. Wal
ston, with the State Department
of Revenue, was received into the
club as a new member and was
immediately assigned to the Citi
zens and Patriotism Committee.
The secretary read a detailed
report from the Board of Direc
tors with reference to the budget
for 1945-46. A total amount of
$1,628.00 will be required for the
various committees to carry on
their work for this period. The Fi
nancial Committee was appointed
to look after the "Dime Board" to
make whatever repairs necessary
and to see that it is ready to re
ceive the Christmas Cheer Fund.
The president appointed a buy
ing committee composed of Gray
den Ferguson, Johnny Edwards,
Francis Massie, Lawrence Leather
wood, and Henry Davis. The duties
of this committee are to purchase
merchandise, fruits, and candy for
the underprivileged at Christmas
time.
The club was very much con
cerned about an overcoat swap be
tween Lions Tony Davis and
Charles Metcalf. It is feared that
the Tailtwister profiteered on the
deal.
In lieu of the program, which
did not materialize at the last mo
ment, the club enjoyed a contest
of songs. Each table contested be
fore three judges and the final
result was a draw.
Herbert Buchanan, chairman of
the Lions Educational committee
will have charge of the program
at the next meeting.
