THURSDAY, DECEMBER THE WAYNESVILLE MOUNTAINEER PAGE FOUR (First Section) 20, Boosters Club Entertain Wives And Veterans The ex-service men and their wives of the Hezelwood community were special guests at the regu'ar ladies' night party of the Boosieis club which was held in the cafe teria of the Hazclwrod school on Thursday evening. Dewey Hyatt, retiring president, presided. H L. Prevost extended a wel come to the guests and Mrs. George Bischoff responded. William Medford, Waynesville attorney, was in charge of the pro gram for the evening, which in cluded several numbers by ioe Emerson Kosc, well-known radio singer, and A. G. Donhouser, who K.nve several uumers on the accor ded!. Mr. Hose also led the assem bly ringing of hymns and Christ mas carols. Durins the evening Mr. Hyatt turned the gavel and bell over to the newly elected president, Rev. S. R Crockett, who will serve the club during the coming year. Mr. Crockett spoke briefly. Announcement was made of the following program committee, who would serve the organization in the coming year with Clyde Fisher, chairman, W. II. Sloan of .Naslieviile, Tenn., will spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Sloan at Blink Bonnie. Mr and Mrs. James Harden How ell, Jr., and young daughter, Cary. have arrived from York, S. C, to spend Christmas with the former's parents. Col. and Mrs. J. Harden Howell, at Windovcr . LI. and Mrs. Howard Jennings have been viisting t he hitter's mother, Mrs. W. T. Crawford and sister, Mrs. Whitener Prevost. Lt Jennings who was wounded in the Pacific theater while serving with the U. S. Marines, has reportct back to the base hospital in Charleston, where he has been a patient and will be joined the lat ter part of this week by Mrs. Jennings. WILLIAM I) SWYER, whose marriage to Mr. Sawyer, veteran of World War II, and son of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Sawyer, of Waynesvillc. took place in Atlanta on Saturday. December 1. Mrs. Sawyer ws before her marriage Miss Margaret Gwendoly Teague. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Teague of Waynesvillc. Mr. Sawyer who served with the AAK as a left waist gunner on a Flying Fortress was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and a number of other medals for his services in his 25 missions over Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer are making their home in Waynesvillc. Woman's Club To Hold Meet This Afternoon The December meeting of the Vaynesviile Woman's club will be leld this afternoon at Oak Park, villi Mrs, James W. Killian, presi lent, presiding. Mrs. H. Phelps Brooks will have charge of the irogram and her subject will be Bringing more color into the tome at Christmas. Medford Addresses DAR Members on Peace Mrs. William Chambers, Jr., was hostess of the December meeting of the Dorcas Bell Love Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution at her home on the Bal sam Road on Friday afternoon, with Mrs. W. F. Swift, regent, pre siding. William Medford. attorney, was the guest speaker and was intro duced by Mrs. R. L. Prevost, who had charge of the program. Mr Medford, a veteran of World War II, who served in the navy, spoke on "Peace," and brought out thr contrast with the internal condi tions at home during the timr when international peace was in j the making throughout the world. C Former Haywood Man Is Wedded To Gastonia Girl Announcement has teen made of the marriage of Miss Velma Ruth Bolin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lowery Bolin, of Gastonia, to Edward Hayes Justice, formerly of Clyde now of Newport News, Va., son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Justice, which took place at 5:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Decem ber first, at the parsonage of the First Baptist church of Newport News, Va. The pastor, the Rev. Strother A. Campbell, performed the double ring ceremony. The bride wore a street length dress of blue jersey with a hat of white feathers. Her corsage was of gardenias and her only ornament was an heirloom watch of the bride's family. Attending the marriage were Misses Polly and Louise Justice, nieces of the bridegroom, Mayo Smith and Herman Frye. After the ceremony the bridal party was entertained at a wedding supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs V. II. Justice, after which the couple left for a wedding trip to Richmond, Va. Mrs. Justice is a graduate of the (iastonia high school in the class of 1938. Following hef gradu ation she held a position with the Garrison General hospital in Gas onia. For the past three years she has resided in Newport News where she has held a position with the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Fines Creek high school and is dow engaged in the grocery busi ness in Newport News. The couple are making their home at 111 23th Street, Newport News, Va.
