The wedding is scheduled to take
place in the early spring.
Miss Way is a graduate of the
Waynesville Township high school,
having been selected as the out
standing girl of her class for the
Rotary club award. Later she was
graduated from Greensboro Col
lege. She is a member of the fac
ulty tof the Central Elementary
school.
Mr. Barber is a graduate of the
Worcester Polytechnic Institute of
Worcester, Mass., where he was a
member of the Theta Chi frater
nity, of which he was chapter pres
ident. He holds the position of
research and development engineer
of the A. C. Lawrence Leather
Company of Peabody, Mass., with
their tanneries located in the

ville Country club with Mrs. Her
bert L. Buchanan, Jr.. and Mrs.
Hubert O'Donnell of Waynesville
and Mrs. Robert Anton, of Ports
mouth, Va., as hostesses.
The guests were greeted at the
entrance by Mrs. Whitener Prevost
and Mrs. Ben Sloan and were in
troduced to the receiving line by
Mrs. T. Lenoir Gwyn. Receiving
with the hostesses were the bride
elect, her mother, Mrs. J. H. Way,
Jr., her grandmother, Mrs. J. How
ell Way and her sisters Mrs.
Thomas L. Campbell, Miss Hilda
Way and Miss Marguerite Way.

Of Interest here was the mar
riage of Miss Anna Marie Rue,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Dunham Rue, to Thornton String
fellow, son of Dr. and Mrs. James
Lawrence Stringfellow, formerly of
Waynesville, which was solemnized
on Thursday, December 27, in the
Most Precious. Blood Catholic
church, Culpeper, Va., with The
Pev. Charles Comaskey, officiat
ing T'ie bride was given in marriage
by ler father, and wore a wedding
go n of brocaded satin fashioned
on princess lines with long pointed
sleeves, sweetheart neckline, full
skirt ending in a court train. Her
veil of illusion was caught with
orange blossoms and she carried a
white prayer book showered with
white orchids and stephanotis.
Her attendants were Mrs. James
Raymond Belcher, Jr., of Hopewell,
Va., who was her matron of honor;
Miss Jean Erskine Grant, of Rich
mond, maid of honor, and Miss
Frances Hoffman and Miss Letitia
Roberts of Culpeper, as brides
maids. The matron of honor and the
maid of honor wore gowns of deep
rose taffeta modeled with tight
bodices and full skirts and wore
matching headdresses of illusion
and gloves of the same shade. The
bridesmaids were dressed in dusty
rose taffeta designed like the other
two and all four carried bouquets
of mixed flowers.
The bridegroom had as his best
man his father. Dr. Stringfellow
and the groomsmen were his broth
ers, Charles Ewing Stringfellow,
USNR, and Woods Price String
fellow, Pennsylvania Military Col
lege; and Lt. Robert Inskeep and
J. B. Hudson, Jr., of Culpeper, Va.
The parents of the bride enter
tained the wedding party and out
of town guests following the cere
mony at their home on Piedmont
street, after which the couple left
for a wedding trip and will later be
at home in Culpeper.
The bride was educated at West
hampton College of the University
of Richmond, and Mr. Stringfellow
studied at Hampden-Sydney Col
lege and the University of Virginia,
prior to volunteering for air serv
ice in the AUS.
The bridegroom's mother is the
former Miss Janie Love Sexton, of
Waynesville, who made her home
here with her uncle and aunt, the
late Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Sloan. Dr.
Stringfellow was on the medical
staff of the U. S. Government hos
pital here during World War 1,
and was a practicing physician here
prior to returning to his home in
Culpeper, Va., where he later located.
Mildred Milner Elected
Proctor Of Moore
Dormitory At WCTC
Miss Mildred Milner, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Milner, Waynes
ville, was recently elected proctor
of Moore Dormitory. She was elect
ed to this position through an
election held by the Women's
House Government Association.
Miss Milner is a sophomore at
Western Carolina Teachers College
where she is majoring in Business
Education.

Clyde, RFD No. 1, have announced
the marriage of their daughter,
Miss Lois Russell to Cordell L.
Bradley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ar
thur Bradley of Maggie. The mar
riage took place in Clayton, Ga.,
on Friday, December 21st.
The bride is a graduate of the
Waynesville Township high school
and has recently been employed by
the Tennessee Eastman Corpora
tion at Oak Ridge, Tenn. The bride
groom lias recently received his
discharge from the armed forces
and is now employed by the State
Highway and Public Works commission.

sories. Mrs. Bradshaw is a graduate cf

Carolina Teachers College.
Mr. Bradshaw Is a graduate of
the Crabtree high school and later
attended North Carolina State Col
lege. After a short wedding trip Mr.
and Mrs. Bradshaw plan to reside
